The story of Balance
Added 2023-06-02 23:32:06 +0000 UTCFor several years I took classes in Aerial Silks the circus skill and as a result I have developed a passion for circus, burlesque and cabaret style shows. I went to see one of those shows during Sydney Fringe Festival and there were some seriously gorgeous performers in the show.
I started following a couple of them on Instagram and one of them, Antonio, a couple of weeks later followed me back. The show had left Sydney by then but he said he was coming back to my home town, just an hour or so away. Now I haven't lived in Wollongong in years so I didn't know where to do the shoot but I did know a place we would probably get away with him being nude. There's a secluded rock pool which is where we did the first half of the shoot.
Antonio is a hand balance artist, hence the name of the download BALANCE. After doing lots of shots in the secluded area, I looked over the rock wall to the expanse of flat rock with a fine layer of water across it. It looked beautiful but it was much more public than the first spot. Antonio was ok with giving it a try and as you can see it produced some shots that I will always love.
During this part of the shoot I heard "Oh My" and turned around and saw a woman of about 60 looking down from the lookout above, underneath the lighthouse. She certainly didn't sound upset at the sight of the gorgeous Antonio doing beautiful handstands, nude in the morning light.
I checked with Antonio to make sure he was still ok and he just laughed and said yes.
Sadly he hasn't ever been back to Australia since. Maybe one day I'll photograph him again.
