Happy Thanksgiving, may your food be delicious and your company jolly.

Alex Podgorski

(No need to read aloud if ya see this) I am behind on the updates, so if this catches you & the crew before then, have a good Thanksgiving if y’all celebrate it. I remember moving to new places & not being able to go home for holidays due to work. I had some nice people invite me into their homes when I was going to be alone & that kindness made a lasting impression on me. Now I’m fortunate to be able to extend that invitation to others. Idk if anyone new is coming this year but there’s always hope. Apologies if that comes across weird. I’m not trying to self grandiose, I’m just a guy who remembers being at the bottom. As Bill & Ted said, “Be Excellent to Each Other!” Cheers to all of y’all! 🍻

Good evening Mr Tex. Save voice as required. Somewhat disappointed I didn't get to die gloriously for humanity(TM) in Xenonauts, but that cousin be helped. Maybe next time. Hearing you mention Delta Green reminded me to check and see if the core books were back in stock, and they were. I bought them immediately and look forward to receiving them. They'll make a fine addition to my collection. Thanks for the recommendation for Isaac Arthur, that's totally my jam. I have something new to listen to for the next long while. Also, what website do you go to to watch fan edits? I absolutely positively cannot find them on the YouTubes, and my Google-fu is weak. Thank you for your time, stay safe out there.

Santo

Save voice. Your encouragement for people to try new things or build something has already bore fruit Tex. After playing classic BT for a couple years with my brother we've finally found a FLGS with a healthy ACTIVE Battletech community and I'm already half way through a Chaos Campaign with a new friend. I had nearly given up on any of that ever happening. Happy Thanksgiving BPL.

The Clag

It's been longer than I like since I checked in but it's good to hear you again man. It's been a rough few months but I'm still rolling with the punches as best I can. Even managed to get back into painting after not doing it since April because of burnout. I think I'll have to ask you for imput about the contrast once I get back to the point of doing display models again.

Frosty _Git

I agree with this statement because he's the mayor, and not the two dozen Capellan assassins that can't find me because I hide in the bar.

Frosty _Git

Tex gives update and sounds pretty good. Better than in some time. Tex then streams 20 year old MRE consumption. Tex spends the next 24 hours wishing for a deity to end his suffering quickly and mercifully.

Kinoons

Hey Tex, feel free to use my name, been watching and listening (There's a very excellently produced run of TZ audio dramas available for free on YouTube. Adam West is in the main role of one of them, its delightful listening to him ham it up.) to a ton of the Classic Twilight Zone. What are your thoughts on the Twilight Zone? And if you could have Rod Serling remake any TV show or Movie, what would it be? I imagine a very cursed Rod Serling take on the Avengers where it follows one average as his life gets ruined by all the superhero antics. Keep up the good work, love the new episodes of the podcast to listen to on my commute to college

Kieran Hines

This is something you don't have to read on the air but... From the podcast episode 158, when you mentioned the sadness of a mage having to work a 9 to 5 job making continual light spells, we went through the exact same line of thoughts and questions and came to some interesting conclusions that made the average fantasy world much more lived in, giving that worn on the edges feel. After a lot of number crunching, a functional economy began to evolve and yeah, we came to the conclusion that adventurers are actually the unemployed skilled professionals of the setting but there are definitely a lot of spell casting professionals and they have jobs. You need to have jobs and the nations we came up with produced the economics to support a mage getting up, putting his spell casting pants on, clocking in, casting his spells and then getting into his gilded luxury carriage and going off to play golf for the rest of the day, looking at those poor hobo casters begging for cash and pulling copper out of the walls of some ruin. We have a lot more information built up that could go for pages and hours but it is nice to know that others kick the tires on a setting.

Khymerion

TIL taking a sip of drink during "Episode 8: The Foot Patrol" was a mistake...

Hey Tex, Don't read the name, it's too long, save the voice. I was just very childishly amused by the mental image when I came up with it. Stoked to hear there is going to be more Star Track :D Listening to Magistratum Mundanus now, and *obviously* kudos to the DM, but also hats off to Crow, I'm laughing practically every time "Ricky" opens his mouth. Hope he enjoyed playing Ricky as much I've enjoyed listening to it. Have you thought about maybe a play through of the Classic BattleTech TTRPG (35030)? I flicked through the 1st edition rulebook (the one before a time of war) years ago to maybe run a campaign, but decided it wouldn't be a good fit for my group. The character creation is utterly hilariously savagely brutal with the possibility of multiple lost limbs, and various other psychosis and disabilities, before you've even left character creation. I kind of wonder what they were thinking there... Anyway that aside, the main stumbling blocks were me being the only real fan of the setting, and also to do it justice learning two rulesets was going to be needed too (one for the mech combat one for the RPG system). It does occur to me though that there is possibly no group of people more uniquely suited to a play through of it than the BPL... And of course... HELL YEAH TO THE TRO :D

Hey Tex, Last month I had the honour of hosting friend, and fellow member of the Aux, Maestro at my home for a week. Since he had taken the trip all the way from Da Fathah-land we decided to seize the opportunity to play some IRL Battletech together. Having spent countless hours playing MegaMek together I was tickled and surprised by how much I had missed the visceral and tactical experience of tabletop. As great as MegaMek is, nothing quite captured the feel of being able to see and visualise the movements of your miniature metal titans as they dance around each other (especially once things devolve into fisticuffs and DFAs). Our last match was a zellbrigen one v one between a quad-LBX10 Annihilator and a Dire Wolf, the outcome of which was epic (who knew failing multiple piloting rolls and falling on your face into a lake was a valid defensive strategy). We had so much fun with that it has inspired us to collaborate on a short audio drama where I narrated the action complete with sound effects and a music score like an old radio play. It’s a side project that we’ll get around to at eventually, but the point of all that is to say thank you to you and your team, the BPL, and the Auxiliary for creating such a wonderful and inspirational community where weirdos can come together to make pretend rompy stompy robots and all the madness that comes from it.

Haleion

Why does the discord group only have two audio chats and nothing else?

Fighter Phoenix

Hey Tex since im just starting Table Battletech any advice on building a non-mech army? Oh and fyi i got to keep that pink Atlas that i killed in my first match, guy had a temper tantrum, through at me and stormed of even though he won that match all will. Have a save and productive Thanksgiving

russell marsh

Mouth of the Dragon? Or was it tiger? Kendo was fun, especially with no armor. :P Oh the dumb days of college.

Robert Lowe

I died the way I lived. Gloriously. Your playthrough inspired me to grab Xenonauts and mod the hell out of it. Things were going great, until I decided to try the air combat minigame. The game locked up. I can't unpause, can't flee, can't open the menu. All I can do is alt+f4. Several hours of googling, loading/unloading mods, resetting, restarting, scratching my head, cranial trauma, and speedrunning the stages of grief several times in quick succession later, I discovered that the space bar was unbound.

Dudeosaurus Rex

Steiner scout time.

MrToBeNamedLater

I tried to teach my daughter to play Battletech. I gave up when my Catapult got kicked over by a My Little Pony.

Slappy McSpankBottom

Hey is Crow out of the internet, via Xenonaughts... I love the things you all do! That's about it! Pistol6699!

Pistol6699

Tex, sorry been away for a while. Dropped my A1C from 12 to 6. Had to change diet and got back into Kendo. Been getting my ass kicked by a 5'0 tall Japanese lady with a Shanai. Pounds have been coming off and my clothes do not fit anymore. Art for the Black Knight should be coming to you from El-D soon. You, the BPL, and the AUX keep swinging and stay strong.

Scott

Ohio Renaissance Faire, will meet you at Jerusalem, look for Templars.

Scott

Hi Tex, I wanted to give the update on the fortune teller from back in August. For background, I see a fortune teller at the Bristol Renaissance Faire once a year and asked what question I should ask. You suggested, "Where will I find my fun?" It didn't really get answered. We talked more about my job than anything. She recommended saving money and doing things when the opportunity arises if budget allows. She said next year will be a year of "new" which can be good or bad. Not the best session I had with a fortune teller, but things happen.

Jason Youngberg

Hey Tex, please save voice. Yes please, TRO for Van Zandt would be amazing, as would a lore book 📖 😍 just make time for yourselves please, i know you and the team already have a lot of work on your plate. Thank you as always for everything you and your team do. 🫂 🤗

Nerd_Power

Hey Tex, loved the MRE stream. Hope nobody got sick and died. Seyla

Nerd_Power

Good morning Tex, Thank you for all you do. As soon as you said, “Where’s my spit cup?” I was taken back to my youth. You see, I would spend summers with my grandparents, and my pawpaw often left a spit cup on the dash of his truck. And all too often it would end up in my lap when he came to a sudden stop. Thanks for the memory and Happy Thanksgiving.

Bryan Kollmorgen

What's up, Tex! Save your voice. Man, I don't understand why people are having a fit about their name showing up in the credits. I support you guys because I love what you do and literally would not care if my name never showed up in any credits or if I was ever acknowledged ever. That's not the point of supporting. 100% behind the idea of a Van Zandt TRO! That would be awesome! So after watching the latest Fine Dining Experience, I have to know, what's the oldest MRE you and the crew have risked botulism to sample?

TheSnadd

Good Day Tex, been a while of me lurking due to real life (and the hits keep coming recovering from "walking pneumonia") Wanted to make you and everyone aware of a passion project video game (2 people working on it) called Vein currently a demo on Steam. It's a zombie survival/crafting game and it is amazing for a passion project of 2 years. Some have called it first person project zomboid. And 2 did you ever play Jagged Alliance 3? I've not been able to find any vids of yours of it and wondered if you ever tried it and it was just lost in the hack? Stay safe and I hope you have a good Thanksgiving. Keep swinging one fist at a time.

Czarvak

Hey Tex ! Consider your voice. Crisis 2025 : It's still on, my group is open to help man a table and game with a BPL meet and greet. I'll get back to it when we things are rolling probably around late spring. My suggestion for the con, hire a theater, make sure it is fully darkened and you wear night vision goggles.

Nonkel Bob

Technical Read Out (it's how FASA released the battletech mech books) Technical Read Out 3025 was the mechs from 3025, Technical Read Out 3050 etc

Czarvak

November? But January was just the other day right?

The Metalorian

Just wanted to say hi. And to thank you for, the battle tech, the history and the poetry.

Frozen Hawk

February?! Tex! It's November! XD

dogsoneup

I don't even know what a TRO is, but yes do one for Van Zandt! And tell me what it is. Talking about face masks, one of those vtubers occasionally does a stream in the flesh, and she wears what is essentially a Cobra Commander mirror helm without the Cobra logo.

Jay McIntyre

Tex: Skip this part (or don't, I'm not your boss) Hello Patreon members, I am Vendrette, the Postal Mech, and elected mayor of the BPLAUX / Auxiliary discord server. Please, as Mr Tex said, come join us! It's a wonderful server and community, and I hope to see you all there. We're very friendly! Unskip this part if you would be so kind: Mr Tex, earlier this year I asked you for a music recommendation and you gave me one that became my favorite newly (personally) discovered artist of the year. (The artist in question is Sturgill Simpson.) With that in mind, would you be so kind as to recommend me another musician or band to take a listen to?

Vendrette, The Postalmech

Hell yeah for TRO Van Zandt. Would read. My spouse and I have been enjoying Xenonauts and are looking forward to the Christmas dump. Hope you and your team have a good Thanksgiving.

Doctor_Senpai

Or Canopian companionship. We should all be so lucky.

MrToBeNamedLater

In your head, save voice. Ok, I dunno what lizard alien kidnapped Tex and put his skin on or AI algorithm is spoofing him, but if you’re gonna impersonate him do it properly. “Howdy there, folks. Tex of the black pants legion here,” is the customary intro for the weekly update. You’re giving yourself away. Seriously tho. Damn, Tex. Dunno what you’ve been doing but you sound orders of magnitude more chipper than the last couple weeks. I know you oftentimes put up a brave face but I hope it is a new trend if only for a little while. You asked me a few weeks ago where in Oklahoma I reside. Edmond just north of Oklahoma City. Sorry I only just am getting to answering now. I’m still trying to tack down if the weekly updates are now on Tuesday or Wednesday and as a master procrastinator I keep missing it. Best to you and the crew and if we don’t hear from you next week, I hope y’all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family as best able.

MrToBeNamedLater

For masks....its a bit of a process...but make a mask of Crow, then wear that, get the long hair, then just run around yelling "CLEVELAND!" at people. Providing snacks and beverages for the DM is OLD code, the DM provides a place to play, be it real and ephemeral. Also realized today that Mundanus would be a HILARIOUS backdrop for a Word of Blake uprising

The Mailman

Enterprise... As a resident of Okiestan I have to give 'Broken Bow' a ding because I've been to Broken Bow and points-off for turning the hills, pine-harvesting and periodic poultry farms into Nebraska.

Molly McAllister

I was getting that feeling too lol

The Mailman

Definitely interested in seeing a TRO: Van Zandt, almost as much as I'm looking forward to seeing the Magistratum Mundanus Manual. Do you or the other legion members have any opinions or places to look for display cabinets? Specifically for models and the like. Finally got my Mercenaries Kickstarter pledge and realizing I need more space to hold stuff in glass cabinets.

Sean O'Donnell

You sound a lot more energetic this time. It's good to hear. Unless it's because of Canopian "Battle Powder."

Urst_

(Save your voice if you wish) Howdy Tex, been a while since I checked in. Crawled myself out of a financial hole and am pleased to be able to support the Patreon once more. You sound so much better than last I came around. Hope you’re on the upswing and maintain altitude. Is gunsmithing your day job or more of a hobby/passion project?
