Design and printing errors

Just in case if you didn't know it yet - I'm a perfectionist. I don't get tired of mentioning it. :D I don't look at my deck designs just a few times before I send everything to the printing company. I spend days looking at files before they go out. But if you design 54 face cards, a back design, the tuck box plus extra ad-cards, then it happens that you'll find details in the final printed deck which weren't supposed to be like that.

I would even say that you'll find mistakes in 90% of all custom decks. Often just small details which aren't really bad. A lot of them are also funny if you discover them. But at least for me and my urge to make it perfect, it's always something that bothers me. Sometimes the designer didn't see it but often it also happens that the printing company mess it up.

Just grab a random deck and take a closer look. But instead of talking about other decks I want to start with my own cards. Fun fact: the Blue Remedies deck is the first deck where I didn't find a mistake yet. Finally after more than 20 printed decks...

One of the mistakes I made in my very first Black Roses deck is also a mistake that I made in the Black Roses Immergrün deck. Stop reading here and take a look at the image if you wanna find it. This isn't easy to see, even in print. That's why this mistake also made it into the second edition. The crown on the bottom has a darker yellow tone. I changed the colors and I simply overlooked this part.

Two mistakes in my next two deck releases that could have been easily avoided but I must have been blind. I have redrawn every court card for the Red Roses. So the Red Roses are my first completely custom deck. At the end I combined all the layers on the courts by color. Especially on the hands you can see that a lot went wrong in this process. A lot white lines from overlapping objects which shouldn't be there. In the Jack of Clubs of the White Gold Edition you can see that the rectangular box around the star in the middle of the card is completely out of shape. I deleted a part of this object by mistake and I didn't see it.

You see the Queen of Clubs of the Polyantha deck on the left and the Eight of Clubs of the Black Roses Altrosa Edition on the right. The Queen has an extra line in the crown on the bottom which shouldn't be there and the Eight of Clubs... I know, right? On the first glance you probably see the same that I've seen - nothing. If you see it, it is a funny mistake and also pretty cool because you can really see that I really redesigned every single card. The positions of the pips are wrong. There should be three on both sides and two in the middle.

In the Black Roses Cartamundi reprint I messed up the Queen of Hearts, since this card still has the same Heart pips from the Black Roses Hotel deck. In the Black Roses Hotel V1 deck, somehow the ad-card got messed up - the lines shifted. In the Orbit V4 deck I simply forgot one Heart pip on one side and nobody has seen it. I made a typo in one of the Orbit decks that nobody ever noticed yet haha. And the list goes on and on.

I know these are probably things that most of you would never have noticed. But I still wanted to share this with you.
