SOLD OUT - Black Roses Altrosa

Deck designers and playing card companies celebrate sold out decks like something special while they artificially reduce the print runs. I'm happy that so many people are interested in my art. But it makes me rather thoughtful at the end.

The Altrosa deck was a spontaneous idea. I've released the first Polyantha deck at the beginning of 2019 - my very first deck without a crowdfunding project and I simply wanted to do another deck before the launch of my next Kickstarter campaign - without having all the hustle and bustle of a Kickstarter campaign.

So I decided to print 2500 Altrosa decks out of my own pocket, which was way more risky for me two years ago than it is today. USPCC even ended up with 2900 decks. The sales start of the Altrosa deck was a mediocre start but it was ok since I got the printing costs back really quick.

Originally the Altrosa deck should have been look like the pink Fontaines. I'm a huge fan of this color since it's a pretty uncommercial color for a deck of cards. But as you can see on the image, that wouldn't even have been such a great idea since the contrast to the white lines on the back is completely missing.

My friend Desi, who is also the Queen of Hearts in nearly all my decks, told me that dusky pink (Altrosa in German) would be a color that is right on trend. Of course... How could I forget that?
But seriously. I'm so incredibly thankful for her input. Without her the Altrosa deck wouldn't be the same deck today. And the best thing about this color - nobody else used it before in a deck of cards.

I created this image and asked a few friends for their favorite color. I know, somehow every color looks great on this back design but I decided to choose the second one.

The Black Roses Altrosa Playing Cards aren't completely sold out yet. You can still get a few on my website and I keep the last 144 decks for myself and special offers in the future. But Murphy's Magic won't order any more decks which means that every magic shop in the world also can't reorder them.

I don't tell you to get the remaining Altrosa decks as soon as possible since it will probably still take a while until all resellers also understand what's going on. But if you have 10-20€ left, make sure to get one or two decks from your favorite magic dealer before the price goes up. I'm sure the deck will be worth a lot more in a year from now.
