Lately I have seen a lot of comments that my cards would be underrated. You would not say that if you never noticed the quality and potential. So I am glad that people think that.
But underrated measured by what?
Are there other companies who are more successful? Yes, that is not even a question. But it does not really bother me. You need to keep in mind that I am a "one-man company". Other companies who sell the same amount of decks have at least one or two employees.
I'm an artist - not a business man, marketer or social media expert. Of course I know the basics and in this playing card bubble it is a common thing to promote your own deck through other content creators. A really easy way to reach more people and to get known.
But that is the thing. I hate nothing more than the feeling to chum up with someone only because of the profit in mind. If that is what I need to do to be not underrated anymore than I am glad that people think so.
What most people do not understand how much time I put into the design of my cards. The most insolent thing I have heard is that I would not have worked on a deck for half a year.
In the realm of the possible I do everything I can to promote my work. But mainly I design cards and besides, I answer all messages as quickly as I can when I am awake.
Enough work for three people already that I do all alone.
There are companies who want to make you believe that they care about their customers but in reality they never read your messages. Even with employees who could do that.
My last two Kickstarter campaigns were funded in two minutes. I know this happened because of the art and not because of a hype. If that is the definition of underrated, then heck yeah I love to be underrated.
