Beauties, it took me a while but "Black Roses Lavender" has grown on me.
For one second I thought about using the German word "Lavendel". That would fit to the titles of the Immergrün and Altrosa edition.
But I also love ambiguity in pronunciation Lavender / Love Ender - whatever that means :D it's open for interpretation.
This year I think I overused the option to print gaff cards on the two extra "ad cards" in a custom USPCC deck.
I still think those gaff ideas are great, but I also think about selling my decks to non magicians and imagine them opening a deck where a torn piece of a card is printed on the back of the card. It raises questions that I'm not able to answer.
The Lavenders will be marked. So there is the argument that two extra gaffs won't reveal / change a lot more. But even a lay person has heard about marked cards more than once their life. It's not a magic effect that gets revealed.
It's still possible that I change my mind but for now I want to add a double backer and an unmarked 2 of Diamonds to the deck. And yes, I'm aware of the fact that even those two cards are suspicious to a lay person. :D But these two cards are still on a completely different level when we talk about revealing magic since there is nothing to reveal.
The unmarked 2 of Diamonds is there for all effects you already know where you need a duplicate. Since it's a duplicate I see no reason to mark this card as well.
If you use a marked deck right, nobody will ever question it that it isn't a "normal" deck. That isn't new to you if you do a lot magic for people. But at the same time the unmarked card gives you a lot more confidence during a trick.
You can place the card on top of the deck or - not that it would be ever necessary - you can hand out the card for examination.
This is a really great feature on top, by just leaving out the markings.
Feel free to let me know what you think.
Much love
Daniel Schneider
