Damsels and Dragons, 0.1 Release

So, here is a demo version of Damsels and Dragons.

In Damsels and Dragons you play a man who is managing a group of female adventurers -- 4 at first, but more as time goes on -- forming parties, sending them on adventures, getting them magic items, etc.

Over time you will gain the affection of your adventurers, learn to cast spells, and engage in acts of lust and perversion. ;)

What's in the 0.1 release?

4 character classes, each with its own combat abilities, and erotic renders.

A dozen or so monsters, most of which have graphics, but some of which are using placeholders.

Three spells you can cast.

Four different fetishes -- Exhibitionism, Voyeurism, Masochism, and Submission, that the girls can acquire through adventuring and will affect how they behave. Note that if a fetish doesn't appeal to you, you never have to pursue it -- there are always opportunities to be vanilla with a girl, as well as a spell that removes a fetish and gives a girl increased sex drive in exchange. 

Two areas to explore that function slightly differently and have different monsters. The dungeon is predictable, offering a couple easier fights followed by a tough one that can get you a magic item. The woods is more random and free form.

What's coming?

Well, a lot more. It's always tempting to delay release so that I can add one more feature. Instead, I'm going to try to release new editions of Damsels every two weeks or so, and give you whatever I have.

I'm going to regularly be adding character classes. Each character class will involve a bunch of renders, as well as a fair amount of coding. I've already done some of the renders for three more character classes -- the Priestess, the Enchantress, and the Barbarian.

Improved Renders: Some of the renders were made assuming different constraints than I'm now working with. Again, not a reason to delay release, but I'll replace some of them as time permits.

New fetishes -- Dominance, Sadism, Promiscuity, and Bisexualilty are planned. and I'm certainly open to other suggestions. Yeah, some of those aren't fetishes per se -- but they are things that will open up more content in a similar fashion.

More spells for you to cast.

Non-random magic items -- right now the magic items are randomly generated, because it was the easiest way to create a lot of variety easily.

More areas to explore -- including some places that are more complicated than just a series of monster encounters. Some of those you'll unlock through game play.

More monsters -- if this takes off, I'll look into paying for art for these. Until then, I'll do what I can. Whether I have art for them or not, though, I'll keep providing new challenges. 

More story -- NPCs to encounter, quests -- as with the magic items, I've done a lot through randomness to get this up and playable, but I'll be adding a few more intentional, scripted encounters as time goes on.

Patronage

Since this is a demo, I'm releasing it to everyone. Future releases will be released to $5 patrons first, so non-patrons will be a month behind. I might create a new tier of $3 patrons to be two weeks behind. If you enjoy this demo and want more, please consider supporting me. The money you provide directly effects the quality of the game, especially the graphics. But I'm going to make it regardless. :)

Anytime Amaraine, just glad to help out as I can. OOOO got ya man, sorry about the misunderstanding there. ))) I tend to avoid adjusting the key components atm, I want to make sure that I don't blow anything up. As for changing some of the text, couldn't you create your own transform for the text, and then apply that transform to the the Intro / default screen? I've seen a lot of comments on it on Lemmasoft, but I haven't played around with it, (only bookmarked a few of the more interesting ones.) Also glad to hear that you got something worked out, look forward to seeing what you came up with.

I've implemented a fix for the low contrast in both the intro and on the combat screen that I'm happy with -- I moved the text some, and provided a darker background for it. Thanks for the feedback -- it will be in the next release.

Thank you, Perversity. I wasn't clear about what I didn't know how to do. I know how to change *all* of the text, it's changing just *some* of the text that's trickier. I do understand that the contrast isn't good enough and I have to do something.

Thank you, Krag and Perversity. Good ideas. I think the idea of connecting it to a spell or a monetary cost is an excellent one, and I'll implement one or the other. :)

Amaraine, an easy way to do it short term, would be to have the spell (Think it's divine dream or something like that.) Remove the item from their inventory so you can assign the girl a different item. (IE: have the spell link to a menu that offers the chance to remove the item from the girl, but then it looks for a flag that shows if an item is assigned there, and only shows the options for any items that are being held.) Then you just give a store option $ inventory = ["item1","item2"] $ inventory.append =["item3"]. So anytime you don't want to sell a magic item it gets added to the inventory list, and then you can select an item from that list to give to any of the girls. ))) Not sure if I got all the vernacular right and usage in the code I am still learning about some of the more complicated systems.

Amaraine, I'm not 100% sure WHICH option you change for the different kinds of text in the game. But when you go into the GUI file there are a bunch of different ones. look on the interwebs for the hex code for what ever color you want "#111111" then just try changing the different text options until you get the right one. ))) Although it's PROBABLY the following options. ## The colors used for dialogue and menu choice text. define gui.text_color = '#ffffff' define gui.interface_text_color = '#ffffff' If that doesn't help, then you could easily find some fantasy rooms that would act as a temp throne room / dining hall where the party could meet up for talks, and what not.

Hello, just tried the demo, it was pretty good. The only issue I had was the same that others here mentioned, the white font with a bright background in the intro and the main navigation menu. Maybe you could place the setting inside the house which could be darker or just add the black background like on the units menu. Lastly, instead of trading the item, you could add the option to buy it back from them.

There isn't currently a way to replace magic items. Thematically, the idea is that it's part of how you're paying the girls, so the items are theirs, and you can't take them away. Long term, I'd like them to be willing to trade up as long as what they get is an upgrade, but all the items currently in the game are considered to be at the same level. That feature is in the queue.

Thank you for trying the game out... and I think that's a valuable point about the text color. I was trying to figure out how to do that just before release, couldn't figure it out, and didn't want it to be the holdup. I know how to do it for the intro, though, and I'll look at making that better... or using a darker background.

Hello there, just tried out the game and I haven't made it far. But I have 1 suggestion that might help your players. Change the text color when your using the wall of text (forget the name for it off the top of my head, the white is hard to see with your background.).
