Now let's talk about what happened

I must really apologize for the delay this time around, everybody.

The time between releases has been consistently growing longer and longer with each update. What began as an optimistic goal of 2-3 months had grown to 4 months... and with the month-long delay this time, it has taken me a whopping 5 months to put this one out.

If you've been following the development logs, you'll know that a lot of work during this development cycle was dedicated to updating the back end of things: old code, systems, UI, etc.

What this ultimately led to was that I grossly mismanaged my time, and ended up with a whole lot of minor gameplay improvements and additions... but very little actual content. You know, the actual playable game part.

So that is largely what I was working on this past month, and also the reason why I skipped out on the last development log. As always, I still ended up cutting a few of the scenes I had planned on adding, so it should be noted that even this is not exactly how I originally wanted the update to pan out.

Until now I've been working on the game mostly by instinct: a collection of loosely related notes, ideas for systems and future content, multiple to-do lists sometimes with repeating bullet points, from which I then randomly pick based on what I think I should work on next and then I get to implementing it.

However, this release has made it clear that this approach is not going to work anymore, now that the game has grown to such a tremendous size that it requires proper organization and the juggling of so many things at once.

Going forward, I'm going to try establishing a bit more of an actual schedule and plan my time around various things better, so that hopefully, future releases will have a more smooth and consistent turnout.

Regarding the update itself

I'll get around to writing a full-fledged development soon, but for now, I'll outline some of the most significant additions since the last development log:

In terms of content: this time around, I focused on a little bit of everything, which means there were several smaller events added to a variety of storylines, rather than just one or two storylines which got a bunch of new events.

I should also note that: since a lot of the work this time ended up being updating and restructuring old code, it's possible that there are now new bugs strewn around in various old places in the game.

I did my best to test out as much of the game as I could, but with how many systems and variables the game has going on at all times, it's very likely there are some incredibly specific edge cases I missed.

As always, please report any bugs you run into!

Thank you so much for sticking it out with me throughout all of this, everyone! I really appreciate your patience, especially regarding the lack of communication during this past month.

Ikem's was just added in this update, now that there is finally has a more sizable chunk of his storyline! As for the scene, it should just trigger the next time you go to the gym with him... although based on the way you're asking, you might not be at that point yet. You can check the guide to see if you're stuck somewhere behind a condition waiting to be fulfilled.

If I'm understanding what you mean by proposition, then there is one more brief scene after. You can confirm whether you've seen all of the content by checking the entries in the Journal. Any storyline that is finished should have a "(The story ends here in the current version of the game.)" message at the end of the entry.

Notice some small little bugs I know can be fixed, mainly just the audio sound effects not working at times in the fishing mini game and the garden mini game, but so far game be great >w<

Compared to the previous update which retroactively added the big gardening and foraging minigames, there isn't much shake-up to old content in this one. In fact, all of the new events are continuations to several existing and long-running storylines, with the exception of Ikem who never had that many events to begin with. So continuing from an old save is perfectly fine. There *are* general little improvements to overall game feel and small details in UI and such, so you might get some mileage out of a new save if you want to check out those.

Yeah no problem, I tried re-downloading the app and it still seems to go black and crash at every battle it might just be the device I'm using, I'm so sorry to continue to pester you, thank you for all your help, I sent all the save files I have, I hope that helps.

I can't seem to reproduce the crash with the save file you sent me. Just to make sure, could you try downloading the apk again and updating the game? And if it's still crashing... very sorry for the tedium, but could you send me an export every save file you have?

Money gain will likely need some adjustments now that the game has more things to spend money on. Since I'm still planning on doing some significant additions to the store, the rates will probably be adjusted sometime alongside those!

I dunno if this is the right place, but maybe its a me issue but I constantly seem to be out of money in game. Even with fishing I can't seem to keep it longer than like 5 days.

I might eventually just implement a fully unlocked clothing equip menu for the Model Viewer, but for now the idea is basically that you would save the Farm Tee as a Favorite setup, so that you could select it later in the Model Viewer. As for the branch exclusivity, I pretty much just had the Farm Tee as a cute little idea last second while writing the post scene. I'll have to come up with a way to tie it in to a later scene with them in the other path, since I want to keep the uniqueness and narrative value of it being one of the characters' old clothes (similar to a cap from a certain someone!)

As for feedback on the update itself, man you have done an absolutely awesome job with this project. Your GUI upgrades are smooth and visually pleasing. I have enjoyed putting together outfits for my character and actively changing them from day to day to make it feel more immersive. I love being able to use card art for the deck cover. I’ve been using the “signature” card for each of my deck builds. I’ve also enjoyed the additions to Ted and Ikem’s stories/events. Loved blowing up Cedric again. He’s such a dick, lol… but obviously secretly envious and maybe even attracted to the player character. Curious to see how that works out down the road. I know you didn’t accomplish everything you wanted, but you did A LOT and we are so thankful. Please keep up the great work.

In the model viewer for the player characters, we can only view favorites and currently equipped gear. Can we also get the option for the top unlocked through the “farmer” storyline added back there? Though actually, since you have to let a specific outcome happen to gain that item, can it be made possible to purchase it from the store after that storyline resolves for the other potential outcomes? It’s such a great top lol. Would love to see more like it.

That crash should have been fixed earlier but it looks like it somehow got reverted... not to mention the event isn't even supposed to happen until after the pub questline is done! Thanks for the report! The fix is up now.

Hello! I seem to have found a bug. Game appears to freeze during the Gym rematch event with Cedric during the restaurant investigation, just before the battle starts. Also, I just wanted to add that you've been doing incredible work. I know you were unhappy with the amount of content in this update, but the polish and patch notes speak to how much work you've put into everything. And all those small things REALLY improve the game experience, including the Wgt update at the start of the day!

First it happened just before fighting the barber for the first time, then it happened just before fighting the brother in the bakery. And finally during the scene with the guy at the gym right after finishing the routine and starting the scenes where you go to his room[SPOILER]

Ah, that's very useful information actually, I found out where the issue was in the end! Thank you so much for the responses. If you want to still keep your old gamedata, the fix will be up in a few, so you can restore the files to the appdata folder if you want.

Game seems to be crashing anytime I enter a battle, on the latest windows version. Can't make it past the tutorial, free battle is also broken. Excluded game from my anti-virus but that didn't seem to do anything

Hi, sorry but I found a problem, all the menus in android move out of their place and are placed in the center of the screen. For example, when creating the avatar, all eyes are over the character making it impossible to see it

I found another apparent problem, from time to time when using "fast forward" the game closes suddenly and it has happened on 3 occasions in my case just using it

Thanks for the report! The fix will be up in a few minutes with some of the other fixes. As for Ikem's next events, you are indeed right, your Wgt needs to be at least 20. I'll add that condition to the guide!

I think I found a problem, it doesn't allow me to use any consumables through the inventory bar, for example the "exercise enhancers"

Hey, been enjoying the update so far, but I think I found a couple of bugs: -I can't seem to be able to craft any card after the update, when I try to do it, the menu shows "text" and doesn't let me pick any option from there. -The other one, I'm not sure, but I think the last or two last Ikem events don't seem to be triggering? [SPOILER AHEAD] the last event I got is the one where he kisses the mc and suggests having s*x [SPOILER END], but after that, according to your guide there should be two more events, but I went to the gym two times after that and I got the same generic gym workout afterwards. Not sure if this is a bug or if the mc needs to be a certain weight or something. I have been playing on Android with an old file from the previous update, if that matters.
