Status Update - April 2022
Added 2022-05-01 08:59:52 +0000 UTCHello! April was lazy, so I paused the billing cycle. Nonetheless, I still managed to do some work.
Main releases:
Gran Turismo 2
This month, I released two new small cheats for GT2:
- BGM switch - a cheat adding an option to change the background music during the race by pressing R3, and muting it by holding R3.
- Fixed event generator - a cheat fixing a glitch in the game's random course picker (used for one-make races and Event Generator races) where instead of picking Apricot Hill, a 2-player version of Autumn Ring was picked. Additionally, this cheat also adds a previously unused, but fully functional Autumn Ring Mini to the pool. It's probably the closest thing to SilentPatchGT2 so far =)
Other work:
DuckStation
- Add 5106, 5146, 5186 codes for indirect reads from a register code - an addition to the existing DuckStation register codes that I needed in order to be able to make a proper BGM switch cheat. This is a generic addition making register codes more usable, but I'm not sure if they're going to see use outside of my cheats.
PCSX2
- SCP XInput Bridge Integration - re-adds support for DsHidMini's XInput API extension that originated from an old SCP driver for DualShock 3. With this change, users might drop DsHidMini's xinput1_3.dll in PCSX2's directory, and then set PCSX2 to use a XInput controller backend. If done correctly, PCSX2 will be able to poll pressure sensitive button data from the DualShock 3.
What's next?
At the moment I don't have any specific plans laid out. As of recently, I'm experimenting with GT Legends and its annoyances (such as a requirement to run the game with a Windows XP compatibility mode and forced admin elevation) but I don't know yet if it's going to result in a release of a new SilentPatch.
Other than that, I've been busy wrapping up my side gigs so even though this report says otherwise, I've actually been quite busy fixing games! If everything goes well, I may have some exciting news to share soon.
