Season 6 ranks pretty low for me out of the seasons (there are definitely some great moments tho) , but I really enjoy S7 and I think you will too. Excited to get into it! Also, I haven't commented in a while, I hope you're doing well! Thank you for the videos.

Mack this season was doubting his choices and his role as director and started this season seeking advice from a hologram of Coulson. Sarge was a way for him to confront that fear of doing things differently then "Coulson" would. Fitzsimmons arc was mostly about what they are willing to sacrifice to save each other and how as long as they are in shield they must not only be willing to sacrifice those closest to them but also each other.

S6 is a mixed bag for me, and I'm not sure it was entirely under the show-runners control. The late renewal for S6 obviously meant less prep for the season's plots, and then a very early renewal for a final season (although we weren't told it would be the final season until after S6) further comprised it by needing to set up S7 as well. The reduced episode count doesn't help in that regard either - AoS has up to this point ran with major arcs of 8-11 episodes, so a 13 episode season is almost the worst of both worlds, being longer than one arc, but too short for two. Clearly, ABC weren't willing to commit to a full 22 episode season, but I think a 16 episode season would have served the show better - that would give us two full eight episode arcs (so similar to S4's structure), rather than needing to overlap them as it feels S6 did. IMO, the Izel plot needed more time/depth than it got, which is why I think S6 really could have done with more episodes. I'm of the firm belief that reuniting with Fitz needed to take about as long as it did - immediately having him back wouldn't feel satisfying, and would cheapen the end of S5 - and we need to get a feel for how SHIELD works without Coulson, so there's not a huge scope for cutting the first half of S6 down to expand the other plots.

Exactly. ABC renewed the show midway through production of. 6, so they were able to put seeds to set up for Season 7, namely the Chronicom subplot. Now, Season 7 doesn't have to spend half of the season having to build up their big bad.

To answer your question, yes they did go back in time, specifically 1931, when the Empire State Building was being built. Not going to say what this means for the rest of the season, but I can say that it's going to be a fun ride, with a more straight forward plot than 6. It is one of the best seasons of the show, filled with some unexpected surprises, some really great action scenes, and incredible effects. And I can promise you, it will have a very satisfying conclusion. Also, LMD Coulson will take a little getting used to, but there's going to be a few perks when compared to the original Coulson this season.

Your feelings on this finale are completely valid. Many dislike this season for this reason but after rewatching the show so many times I understand why they did this. We had a whole arc last season of the team letting Coulson die for the greater good so if the show started the season with Coulson alive again that would sort of undercut that finale. Daisy pressing that button symbolizes her complete willingness to have him back now in any form. So why bring Sarge in first. Well first this story answers a question about the third monolith and the origin of the monoliths which you may not have cared about but does close that storyline. But it also gives a chance for our team to go through their arcs. May and Daisy start this season as the two different parts of the fandom. Those who want Coulson back and those who have already accepted he is the gone. May started this season hating Sarge but slowly like you put all her faith in Sarge even though most of his actions were negative. Leaving his crew, trying to bomb earth, destroying Enoch planet (Izel just infected it) Daisy was like the hardened fans who didn't want Sarge to be Coulson but broke when he said "Skye" because truthfully they do want Coulson back in some way but like you here at the end didn't want to invest time if he was not him. Patchy had Coulson's body and his DNA but he is like Izel he can not access Coulson's memories normally. But if you remember 6x10 and 11 after he was "dead" he would get pieces. When Daisy disrupted his powers that was the only time Coulson could come out and even Coulson knew how deadly Patchy was because if you go back and watch it is like he is trying hard to warn Daisy that Patchy is getting his memories back not Coulson. There is a frame when Sarge is getting flashes after waking up from Daisy attack that shows the monster form we see in this finale. Patchy gained Coulson's emotions not really his memories I truly believe that before Izel shot him we could have got Patchy out of Sarge but after that attack the Coulson part no longer had control. The show needed to tell us that the body doesn't matter. It is the mind and the memories and experiences that matter. When you look back at this season think of it like half of a full season because this was more a set up for what comes next.

I think you’ll get a kick out of season 7, like season 6 it’s very different than the first five, but a lot of people consider it one of the better and most enjoyable seasons.
