To comment on something less bleak than the main topic, I can relate to the baking measurements conundrum Alex mentioned from the complete opposite side. I will do meticulous volume to weight conversion with most solids that are used in larger quantities than 2 tablespoons (and convert cups to ml for the rest) because it just feels so much easier in my head to put the bowl on a scale and not have to stress over things like pouring flour the right way to avoid packing it. Usually adds about 10-15 minutes of rewrites before I'm able to get started on any recipe written for an American audience lol. But I imagine going from US to the UK or vice versa would be even more of a headache when there's a bunch of measuring units that share a name but differ by a significant margin, imperial cups are a whooping 48ml larger than US customary! That's tripped me up on more than one occasion when I just type "# cups in ml" into the search bar and don't double check which one I'm getting against the recipe's origins. Sounds like it must have been a whole rabbit hole diving into all that stuff, definitely gonna give that show a listen. Sounds kind of like a soft reboot of the listener question episodes on Reply All, and that's something I've missed dearly since it shut down.

2024-10-13 15:15:24 +0000 UTCI’m HS (2013-2016) a lot of the guys in my school (one of the biggest in WA) started this thing they called (the trading card game) where guys would trade and sell nudes of other woman back and forth to each other and would rate just like you would trading cards. It was a whole thing in my school a bunch of guys got in trouble for it. The story about the the nudes gave me an unsettling déjà vu around this. Completely disgusting behavior on this men’s part. (And yes the worst dudes I knew were all about it) keeping it classy south kitsap HS
