Splatoon Mini-Series (Plotting)

With Splatoon 3 out, I got a hankering to do the mini-series I've had floating in my head since...the original game, cripes. I have no budget, staff or license - which kinda puts a damper on production - but I did finally commit the ideas to the page.

Place-holder names aside, this felt so good to put together. Everything clicked, and I really feel like this could work if expanded into a full project. Maybe the stars will align one day and y'all can look back at this and say "I knew it when."

Anyway - enjoy, and stay fresh.

Comments

Hiya! just came here after it was mentioned in the newest Bumblekast, I asked the question, and I suppose I got alot more than I expected here! I hope you don't mind the massive comment, but I had a few more in depth thoughts about this with my MEGA SPLATOON AUTISM that I thought u might like to hear! Not necessarily critiques or questions, moreso lore things that I would be considering if it were being adapted into a series. ------- - Her father working for one of the gear manufacturers intrigues me, getting to see the inner workings of these companies (whether it's clothing or weaponry) would be really cool! - I like that you describe the gear having "perks" just like gear abilities in-game! This would be pretty interesting to see in canon, since currently we're not too certain how the gear abilities actually work but we know they must be canon, since "re-rolling" your abilities is the entire job of Spyke / Murch and what gives Sea Snails their purpose. It's a little murky on exactly how they are a part of our gear or give us boosts. - Small consideration: Would Trendy be able to not know that the ink dissapears? Ink is the majority of what an Inkfish's body is made of (hence their ability to hide in it in Swim form and inability to swim in water) and has uses outside of turf battling, so I would assume it's properties are well known or taught in school, though inklings aren't very bright. - Something that I'd be interested to see if this were fleshed out visually, how does Sniper hide that he's an octoling that it gets revealed when he's close up in battle? - I'd also be interested to know how much people in Inkopolis actually know about Octarians, it would also depend on where in the timeline this series takes place. We know that there was a mass exodus of the octarian domes to inkopolis around 2017 (when octo expansion takes place) but that there were still octarians living above-ground before that. Marina left around 2015 when she heard the Inkantation, Warabi / Mashup from Diss Pair seems to not even be from the domes in the first place. We also know that Inklings and Octolings have lived together in the Splatlands for quite some time due to Shiver's family history, just not Inkopolis until recently due to poor travel links. The Great Turf War seems to have been surprisingly local, but Inklings once again aren't always the brightest creatures so perhaps their education is limited. - Along the same lines, where would Sniper be from? Is he from the domes himself, or from outside of Inkopolis? Are him and his family early defectors of Octavios regime, or part of the mass exodus? How long has he been here, and has he been hidden with an Inkling identity? If he was in the Octarian domes, he likely wouldn't have been in the army since we have only ever seen female octoling soldiers, so where did he learn to snipe? Octoling characters are so interesting because of how much you can play with their backstory around canon events, even though we don't necessarily have much info on Octarian society, my octoling OC is one of my favourites because of that. If this were real I'd definitely be interested to see how it gets fleshed out, thank u mr flynn!

I genuinely enjoyed this! its so well written, short an sweet, just like it should be. I love the names thought especially "Woomy" and "Nyes" even in the names you keep that pun-y Splatoon charm.
