086 - Eulogy

super fucking late but i was too busy during the semester to properly mourn the venture bros and im here now as a part of the grieving process. this actually did help a lot with seeing venture's untimely demise as less of a horrific event than i initially saw it, and i think now more than before i can look back at the show and appreciate what it was rather than be sad about what never could be. i listened to this podcast (both the general [deep end] and the venture bros cast) a lot when i had to drive 40 minutes to/from campus and could work out in a gym but both of those things mysteriously stopped in march and im finally back now to catch up. posting this to say thanks for everything, this was a great podcast and i really enjoyed it but i understand that these things cant last forever and wish the best for both of you. so, anyway, go team venture, ignore me, spanakopita, etc etc ✌️

Subscribed tonight since I know the deep end had ended back in August, and was curious if the patreon had any additional info about things. I know I’m just a rando listener, but I always enjoyed seeing Matthew Jay’s posts, and hope you’re doing well during everything going on. Congratulations on getting engaged! I really enjoy the stuff the two of you put out for this podcast and both of your work in general. Hope to hear more from both of you on another project together some day! Thanks for all the interesting discussions and laughs! Guess it’s time to go through and listen to all this extra content in the meantime!

You guys really reinvigorated my interest in adult swim and got me to check out a lot of shows I hadn't gotten around to, including some new favorites of mine. I also learned a lot about animation history and the comedy scene I didn't know about, and it was fantastic to get perspectives on so many of these shows from folks working in the industry. I want to thank Matt especially for his infectious enthusiasm for adult animation and modern comedy. I only just joined the Patreon so I'm looking forward to listening through the Venture Bros. podcasts as I rewatch the show, it'll be a great companion as I celebrate and mourn it myself.
