You think it's just a goofy filler ep but it sets up the attitude of the students towards Suzaku, adding him to the friend group etc. All of the "filler" eps in this show always have some broader main story implications and I love it.

Eren definitely was inspired by Lelouch but AOT is more popular just like how Thanos was inspired by Darkseid but Thanos is more popular. Newer shows take inspiration from older shows and get popular and the new audience thinks it came up with the idea which is a shame but this is quite common nowadays for example when big social media influencers copy smaller influences' ideas and get more views and recognition. MHA is another modern show that's taken inspiration from the big 3 ( One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach). Chainsaw man and jujutsu kaizen for sure has taken inspiration from Bleach

Let's say Lelouch got the death note and he wrote down the names of every Brittainian royal, Most viewers will end up cheering for him to continue down that part cause, unlike Light who mostly killed criminals who were already in jail, in this universe we're up against a powerful, oppressive and racist empire that's a threat to the world if we don't get rid of them. They are truly rotten just like how Light said the world is rotten but his world is nowhere rotten compared to this world lol
