Hello everyone,
Now the the last version of SoVR has been released for all tiers, I can focus on talking to you about what I've planned for the post-game content.
I'll be honest, I have no idea how I'm going to organize those posts so I'll probably repeat myself sometimes between different posts. I'll probably go with the flow, talking about what I want to talk and show you pics when I can ^^'
Since this is the first post, I think it's important to mention the whole genesis of that part of the game.
When I started working on SoVR for the pre-production, I had two main choices: Keep the original style of having different level of hardcoreness and keep this idea of having the game's content revolving on which level the game was or ditch the system and do something else.
So I did something very basic: I made two colums with the pros and cons of each possibilities. And while both styles had a similar amount of pros, it's the amount of cons that made me heavily lean towards ditching the old system.
As you can guess, there are three main things that condemned the old style:
- The fact that each H scene has to be written 3 times (one for each Hardcoreness level). It COULD have been a possibility with my old way of writing, but now that I've started introducing narration and not just dialogues anymore, it's just not possible with time constraints (and it would be a great way to kill motivation as well)
- The fact that if you cut the game on those levels, you can't be cherry-picking. If you like smegma but not watersports, you'll have both, no matter what.
- And of course, the fact that I had to fit EVERYTHING in the 2 days and a half for both the main story and the side content. And that was a no go. I wanted things to go at a nice pace.
When I saw that, I STILL considered keeping the old system (now that I think about it, I was kinda stupid, it should have been blatant that this wasn't a good idea.) This is why the game you have has a single progression. It's linear, not very hardcore (well, based on my standards) and shorter. But at least you have a clear storyline, everyone has the same, and it fits perfectly between SoVO and SoV2 (with minor details.)
So I went the "post-game content" road. What does it mean?
The global picture is the following: After the game's end, something will make you go back to the farm. Then you'll play a very small part of scripted content and after that, the real fun begins. Keep in mind that this is the whole vision, what you'll get when the game is FINISHED x)
Basically, you'll be able to select a girl (Yuki, Ayame, Naomi or Reiko. Anaëlle is supposed to be on the list as well, but I prefer putting her as an option because of game development time ^^')
When you have selected a girl, you'll be playing as her. Meaning that for once, Yuki and Ayame will do things on their sides, not together. Think "SoV2 evenings" but as a really playable part.
As such, each girl will have things to do that are linked to the "main scenario" (gotta find excuses for them to stay there) but the most important part is that they'll also have two major quests each that will be unique and that will be the "real" scenario part. Those quests will be the main part of what you'll do with each girl. I currently have written the 2 quests for each of the 4 mentioned girls. I've tried varying situations and boy I went a bit far for some of them (but that's a talk for MUCH later in development.)
To avoid SoV2's problem of gradual corruption being not equilibrated at all, the updates won't be "one full quest" then "the other quest" in the other update. It's going to be one half of each so that they both progress equally.
So you have the precise look of all the future updates. Each girl will have two updates. One with half of her content, and one with the other half. So with 4 girls, there are currently 8 updates planned for SoVR. However, you must understand that those will be heavier than before so they'll take longer to do. But I'll go back to that in another post.
You probably wonder what's going to be order of the girls? Well I've already written it. Exactly the same list than above. Yuki first, then Ayame, then Naomi, then Reiko.
So yes, the next two update will be 100% Yuki content. Of course, there are much more things to mention but I'll keep those for later posts :p
See ya!
