Poll: Choose the Lore behind the creation of the MHW
Added 2019-11-23 01:26:22 +0000 UTCHi Everyone,
I have been hard at work with updating AGtMH to be a more complete compendium for you to run your games. Part of this was adding information about the locations found in the Old World. I am now at a point where I need to start adding in monster hunter lore, but the issue is that the video game series is vague on how the age of the ancients was, or even how the monsters came to be.
I want you all to help me decide how I combine Monster Hunter and Dungeons & Dragons together in the ancient lore. For background I am using The Tale of the Five Dragons from MHW as the basis for how the world was originally created.
From there we have these two options you see below. Please read them and vote on the option you would prefer to have. The poll is open until the 1st of December at 11:59pm CST. The winner will be the lore I use to create the request of the history.
Disclaimer: These are rough drafts and some of the text may be reworded or expanded upon, but the idea behind each idea is there. So please don't judge me on my poor writing skills <3
Option 1: This option the Five are basically the creators of everything and then leave an aspect of themselves to watch over the world (These aspects would be dnd gods)
The Clock Turns
As the hand of time ticked its first second, the five looked down on their creation and found it empty. Vast oceans, islands, mountains, and forests filled the world, but it contained only the humans.
Thus, the Five formed the creatures, the Elder Dragons, created with physical power reflecting the Five themselves. The Elder Dragons had to the power to shape the land, adapt and change it to fit the Five's image. As the first minute went by, the second creatures were molded — the leviathans, amphibians, and other sea creatures; including the ancestors of the desert piscine wyverns who lived in the sea at this time.
As jhen mohran's and ceadeus's ancestors modeled the seas to provide the its new occupants a place to dwell. Islands dotted the landscape and enormous coral reefs that seemed to stretch forever into the depths. The sea flourished and the humans who set sail began to take notice. Believing the mohran's and ceadeus to be the sea architect of the Five, the humans began to pray and worship to the Elder Dragons.
Touched by the humans worship of the dragons, the first of the Five Dragons infused its worshipers with the power of the sea, creating the first tritons, or sea people, as they are commonly known.
As time continued to tick, the second of the Five Dragons wrought the elves. Worshipers of the Kirin and other powerful and beautiful Elder Dragons, the elves have an unearthly grace and fine features, that is sometimes compared to the Five's own divinity.
The Five continued to create as the day went on. Creatures began to appear in the sky and large beasts patrolled the land. The many races were formed as the human's continued to discover new Elder Dragons to worship.
Satisfied with their creation the Five departed this world, but not before leaving aspects of themselves, as the new gods, to watch over the world.
In the time after the five dragons, ancient species of monsters, ruled the world. The world was at peace, many species of Elder Dragons thrived in their environments, living in harmony with other creatures. Nature was truly in harmony with itself in this age.
Option 2: This option 1st humans ascent to godhood and become the worlds pantheon (dnd gods), they create the humanoid races, but the scales they used to create the world is discarded. As its power wanes, the Elder Dragons and other beasts are created.
The Beginning
When time began the wielders of the scales left the continents they created and their people to travel the vast empty seas. Using the power of the scales, they dotted the horizon with islands and created enormous coral reefs that seemed to stretch forever into the depths. They journeyed along the path of the youth, following the Sapphire Star, in search of the Five.
The journey was long and arduous, but they continued to create, believing it would bring them closer to their destination. Years went by, the world was teeming with vast oceans separated by continents, islands sprinkled the horizon, and mountains and forests filled the world, but when the found the Island of the Five, they found only the youth.
The youth welcomed the wielders, congratulating them on their wonderful journey. As a gift, the youth bestowed a fraction of the Fives power to the wielders, ascending them to godhood. No longer needing the scales, their former wielders cast them aside as they took their rightful place on the thrones of the world, not realizing the power still held within the scales.
From the scales the first creatures of the world were formed, the Elder Dragons. While weaker than the Makers, the Elder Dragons still had the power to shape the land, adapt and change it to their will. Viewed as aspects of the Five, the Makers honored the Elder Dragons and welcomed them as kings in this world, allowing them to rule their lands as they see fit.
Second came the wyverians, created not from the scales, but instead molded by the Makers. Created in the image of both the humans and dragons, the wyverian was the Makers first attempt and paying their respects to the Five.
As time went on, more creatures were formed from the waning power within the scales. The creatures were smaller and less intelligent. They were created without wings or the ability to breath under water, and with its last drop of power, the cat-like lyians emerged.
The Makers were not idol while the scales formed new creatures. Drawing inspiration from the world, the scale, and the Five; the Makers molded the many races of the world. After the wyverians came the tritons, or sea people as they are commonly known. The elves, dwarfs, halfings, and the rest followed soon after.
In the time after the creation, ancient species of monsters, ruled the world. The world was at peace, many species of Elder Dragons thrived in their environments, living in peace with other creatures. Nature was truly in harmony with itself in this age.
Thank you all for your support and taking the time to read this and I am looking forward to seeing which version wins!
