A Musical Note: Two New Alphas
Added 2019-01-23 01:47:08 +0000 UTCThe How to Train Your Dragon movies have (thus far) been really entertaining, uplifting adventures, with the second one being, surprisingly, better than the first. The music is also excellent, well-tailored to the world and the events and characters.
Some of it's also inspirational.
This piece, Two New Alphas -- at least through about 3:45 -- became the key music through which I developed one of the most dramatic scenes in Challenges of the Deeps -- when Ariane, DuQuesne, Wu Kung, and even Orphan confront the enigmatic and dangerous Vindatri. The piece begins with the group in Vindatri's control, Wu Kung chained... and then DuQuesne tells Wu the secret he has been hiding: that the Arena allows the Hyperions to be what they truly are in their hearts.
And in that moment the Monkey King Sun Wu Kung is reborn, and chains that could hold a world are shattered, starting a battle that will shake Vindatri's hidden base Halintratha to its foundations.
