Yeah Christmas is fairly big in Japan, although itβs more the spectacle side of it (with the lights and ornaments) and nothing about the Christian side of it. Itβs also just as much of a Couples holiday as a family one (as this song kinda infers).
Instead of Fruitcake, they eat a type of sponge cake. And instead of a Christmas feast with ham, candied yams, etc, itβs a tradition in Japan for families to order huge buckets of KFC for Christmas dinner.
Lastly, the worldβs largest snow sculpting contest takes place in the northern city of Sapporo.
Anyways, some people consider the Yakuza series a Christmas series (like how the die hard series is) cause 0, 1, 2, 5, Judgment, and Gaiden all take place in December!

To simplify the list of yakuza games you have Y0 going all the way to Y6 with the remake of Y1 an Y2 named Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2. Then they changed to Like a Dragon after 6 (Even though technically the literal translation was always more similar to Like a Dragon in japanese than Yakuza). LaD:Gaiden is a 6.5 to the series then Y:LaD is Y7 and LaD: Infinite wealth is Y8. The rest are either spin offs or noncanon events in the yakuza world. As for the pirate game that is coming out soon it is a sorta 8.5.
As for spin offs that is Judgement and Lost Judgement. There are also historical dramas with yakuza characters and a zombie game and that's pretty much all of them. I think there is a japanese exclusive so I wont mention it but its an older game so I will put it aside.
To your question about Japan and christmas yeah they do have a similar Christmas to us but there is a thing with fried chicken bc KFC essentially tricked Japan into thinking that USA gets fried chicken for christmas and that just kinda stuck with them.
Finally for your question about Yakuza and when it usually occurs and the answer isn't ALWAYS direct however generally it takes place during the late fall/winter, at least its more clear for a few of them with the cold breath and snow and such.
Anyways I think I've geek out about this game enough and I hope this can help a bit!! Welcome back from your break and hope it was wonderful!
