[DRAFT] DINOKING: CoFT.

Today I managed to rough out six more pages for Dinoking: Cradle of Forgotten Things. Progress has been slow lately, especially with the rewrites for the last 24 pages of Dinoking Vol. 2. There’s a lot packed in — big Kaiji moments, wide cinematic panels, new villains introduced, major battles, and some big story twists near the end. It’s dense, and truthfully, I’ve been a little burned out. Not sleeping great either, so I had to step back and switch gears for a bit.
In better news, work on Wonder Island is moving forward — the first run cycle animation is finally done, which feels like a big win.
Back to Cradle of Forgotten Things — this story is a prequel to the first volume of Dinoking, focusing on a group of boy scouts (and one boy’s sister) who accidentally stumble into the Creep and find themselves in a surreal, terrifying lost world.
This one leans more into horror and that eerie campfire-story vibe. It’s a smaller, tighter story — a bit of a slow burn, and more grounded — but if it goes well, I’d love to expand it into three short volumes.
CofT pairs well with From Earth With Love, which tells the backstory of the Shiratori Clan and what happened during the downtime skipped in Dinoking Vol. 1. FEWL focuses on the human side — who Kaiji becomes. CofT is more about the monsters, and who he used to be.
Neither book is required reading, but together they give a much deeper look into the world and characters. If you’re here for the full picture, you won’t want to miss these.
In this page, the Girl in the Yellow Raincoat encounters a Diplocaulus — an odd creature from the Permian period, over 250 million years ago. I've always found the strange looking critter unsettling, but contrary to its reptilian look, they're not actually dinosaurs but an early amphibian. Its bizarre boomerang shaped skull may have helped it glide through water or avoid predators, we don't really know. Part of me suspects it had some kind of sensory capacity like the hammerhead shark, but we'll probably never know. That is the beauty of prehistoric creatures, there's just so much guesswork. It's a real feast for the imagination!
Anyway, thanks for the support — more soon!

2025-05-02 03:48:36 +0000 UTCthis progress is sounding great. that and I have been doing a little bit of Bible study, in part because of your prior talks of Adam having strange powers and the Nephilim. The later of which making me develop a small theory about Mau and Gideon
