This isn't a teaser - 31 January 2025

Right. Slowly but surely, I'm getting closer to the end of the chapter 14-1 (which will be insufficient for all my ideas, expect this update to be the beginning of a long Arc...)

Anyway, I have to apologise, since it seems I won't be able to complete it before the end of the month, since for me it is in a few hours, and I have a few more things to write, plus of course to make a good correction phase before sending it to the betas.

But you still get some 23K words today (the final update should be around 40k).

Enjoy!

Why not? As much as I dislike the idea boarding the nearly disabled ship, it could have critical data on board and Dennis has a massive man power advantage compared to the MM fi it was at full strength. Yes lose of life unavoidable if you launch the boarding party but possibly knowing more about parties after your Boss could pay off several times over.

Forgottenone

Duh I forgot about that. That said inquisitors could still run them out of the imperium if they desired to

Speedster

Clive is just left for dead right now. Unfortunately, since he is not in command of the ship and his replacement has no order to surrender to a fully-armed and aggressive Grand Cruiser...err...the chances of surviving the next hour isn't that great, to put it mildly.

Antony444

That would be the wise thing...except the Marines Malevolent are generally not that wise.

Antony444

It wasn't the plan at all, but why stop them when it gives you such an easy victory, right?

Antony444

The entire Chapter of the Salamanders would be extremely willing to purge the Marines Malevolent...if they knew where to find them...unfortunately it is not the case right now.

Antony444

Yes, it is extremely dangerous to forget that these blue-blooded Houses got to the top of the food chain. Assuredly, some are exactly as stupid as their decadent habits suggest, but some have a lot of intelligence, and are quite willing to use it...

Antony444

Yeah, the Marines Malevolent were quite lucky Weaver wasn't here to give them a rebuke, it would have been...loud. Loud and violent.

Antony444

Taylor has ties, but at the moment, her relationships to the Blood Angels, Salamanders, and several other Chapters are far deeper than with the Ultramarines (courtesy of having no relationship before the Black Crusade). Plus Nyx isn't exactly next door to the Eastern Fringe.

Antony444

The problem is that to get declared Traitor formally, you need to go in front of the Senatorum Imperialis, and obviously a few High Lords are going to veto this...

Antony444

You remember correctly. A lot of Rogue Traders indeed were present, and then decided to not sign, because the clauses Taylor imposes are a bit too restrictive to their taste.

Antony444

Lol, stop reading my notes...

Antony444

The Salamander wreck that is about to be fought over makes me think it is time to find another one of Vulcan's artifacts.

I have to admit that I am pleasantly surprised by Solaris. The gent has a future in front of him. A very very nice squadron of twenty-plus ships, the desire to be far, far away from Weaver and Terra as well as taking service with Rowboat. I think he will go far. I do wonder, are all the MMs brain damaged? I think there are many Chaos Marines who aren't as big asshats as they are. I wonder how they have not been purged. I do wonder if they are as bad as the Minotaurs.

Andy Heong

Question is if the MM gets declared traitor, gets a permanent pertinent crusade, or gets renamed/other penalt

Speedster

I just noticed during a reread, that post-Tyrant Star, Tyranny 12-4 Ashes of Victory (Part B), during the event to establish the Nyx Rogue Trader Compact, that there was a "Lord Draik" present, but did not make much of an impression, bad or good, for the appearrance was quite brief.

Thiemo Guenther

As usual, the forces arrayed against Taylor and her allies are their own worst enemies. As others have commented, it's a surprise to see a super rich blue-blood with some common sense and cunning. I'm not sure how his future endeavors will go, considering Taylor's close ties to the Ultramarines, but at least he has a plan with some understanding of reality. Thanks for the not teaser.

s22132

Well, the ambush plot has unravelled, the scion isn't interested in being a part of the Segmentum Solar Cesspit, how refreshing. The MM aren't going to get any sympathy from Weaver with that kind of attitude. "The Galaxy sucks, nothing we do can make it worse"? Actually, yes, you DO make it worse, everywhere you go...

Thiemo Guenther

Um… it might not just be the Flamewrought. It is one thing to rob or harass another chapter. It is another to actively desecrate a 1st Founding Legions property. Not simply because it makes all the Successors also angry, but this is Heresy era. It being Heresy Era can have two extra issues… one I think they mentioned Isstavan Survivors so desecrating the ship might mean accidentally desecrating some remains from other loyal legions and two their was no Legion that was 100 loyal or traitor so you run the risk there might be corrupted artefacts lying around.

Jeremy

I have to say, it's a refreshing twist to see a seemingly stock shitty noble turn out to be Obfuscating Stupidity. Not that we don't enjoy all the stock bluebloods getting what they deserve either.

Gabriel Meadow

So I am worried about that traitor ship split in half if one of Vulcan wonder weapons could be involved, which means time stop to not die might be happening soon

Forgottenone

I suppose the Flamewrought is going to be paying a certain chapter a visit... just to demonstrate the point

Richard Paull

At this point, there will only be a few good(ish?) eggs spared when the Malevolent Marines are executed in full.

mastergamer98007

Well, Rogue Trader dinasty is killing each other... not unusual, I liked how this Heir decided to wash his hands away. So, Marines Malevolent truly wish to be declared Traitors - that is what will happen should they truly desecrate Salamander's ship. But I suppose they'll rather learn that a few angry Salamanders with brand new armors with help of a Parahuman, an assasin and some professional troops are better that whatever dregs thay are armed with. I didn't get, is Clive dead or just left for dead along with the ship? Because if in the end Dennis will first board their ship, instead of blowing it up, in can end in hillarius way.

Boris Michenski

Hmm.... a great tactic, let your enemies tear themselves apart. Now... if only it was done on purpose and not accidently. Lol...

Liedral

So… I am guessing Clive is going to try and surrender? And the Captain of the Marines Malevolent is going to discover something really terrible in the wreckage.
