Rusche said he was going to answer the question of Pumpkin's sexuality that he threw out as a red herring over a year ago in the Patreon comics. I don't think we actually have a solid answer yet on that. Pumpkin's obviously upset, but there're so many different things for her to be upset about, we can't really draw conclusions with too much certainty about specifics yet. So, I think we've got more comics to go (past the next one, which was just posted a little while ago).

I don't think that it's an illusion of control as it is a statement of a mother's love. She doesn't say "NO," but she just about comes up to the line and steps on it just short of completely covering it.

Does anyone else hear Rosemary talk with Jessica Walter's voice?

This makes me wonder if Juniper's disowned. I am still curious about how Mamma B decides to deal with the whole thing here. Pumpkin's question also boosts my suspicion that she's more attracted to females than males. If she felt that it was just a goofing off trying something I would think she'd defend herself as just experimenting as opposed to immediately taking the step of believing she was going to be disowned.

OK, first, kudos on how you had Rosemarie handle this. Period. Second, Pumpkin wouldn't question being 'disowned' for her disobeying mother's rules, I wouldn't think. So... is the "am I disowned" about her sexual orientation... or .... damn you! Damn you to h e double hockey sticks! Grrrrr. We done, and I see what you did there.

That's a pretty direct way to deal with this. It allows Pumpkin to have the illusion of some control since it's up to her to deal with this when she wants to, but reinforces the fact that Mom still loves her. However, it's brusk enough to let Pumpkin know that there are still going to be repercussions for her disobedience. Nice job, Rosemary. And by extension, nice job Chris.

Momma Buckingham uses "reassurance!" We need to wait till the next strip to know whether or not it was super effective.
