2025-08-11 22:06:54 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed the session even if I just sat and watched. Next time I will put it on my home theater system. Felt like a bonus episode. I too, liked the specials with the Orthodox priest. It was interesting to see what the church I hear about in the podcast has turned into today. Doubly cool that I am within day trip driving distance. Lastly, that Byzantine sense of "higher order/divine causality" is still alive in the developing world. I heard an almost identical similar story to the "guy's house falls down from termites and they have to explain why this guy's house, and why now" from my relatives. Happened in the 60s, and was complete with asking the local priest to do a postmortem spiritual investigation. (Doubt it was an Orthodox priest though.)

I've revamped the episode index originally made by listener JP: https://miranche.github.io/byzantium/episode-index.html I'll maintain it for the foreseeable future. Also it's in a public repository & I'll make sure to document it well so it shouldn't be a problem for anyone to take it over if I go off the radar
