April's Mr. Sticker is an homage the culturally-beloved Animal Crossing. I went through a few ideas - lots of thoughts around eggs and dino hats - and landed ultimately on the concept of Mr. Sticker as a fossil. Then I thought...let's make it a little reference!
Wanna know something interesting? I had finished a first version of this (based on the sketch in the bottom left of the above image) and came back to it this morning and...hated it.
To me, it felt sterile and had no life to it, which should feel correct for a fossil, but doesn't feel correct for a fun sticker. I went ultimately with a more expressive line and cuter expression, and I really like the final version so much more. Still, here on Patreon, sometimes you get the warts and all! And for what it's worth, the scrapped version basically functioned as a sketch for the final one, so that's helpful.
