Warm weather is upon us and we begin another year of outdoor adventures. Our first trip of the year to the barrier islands was loads of fun and we managed to create some beautiful shots even with harsh light.

To deal with the harsh direct overhead sunlight a lazy yet workable solution is to have the model look directly up to the sky which fills their face with light. Once in a while I will use supplemental flash for fill but I really prefer not if at all possible. This is more of a factor if the model is facing the lens and the face is cast with harsh shadows under the eyes.
