Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers EXTENDED (2002) Full Length Reaction

This is Extended Version Runtime 3:55:32

This one is sooooo good! The battle is EPIC, the stakes are HIGH, and our gang is scattered all over Middle Earth. Every time that Shire music theme comes in I feel like I'm home and we must fight to protect it at all costs!! Can't WAIT for Return of the King Extended!

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers EXTENDED (2002) Full Length Reaction

I am quite late to it, but you asked about what they couldve taken out to make the theatrical verison. Nothing. Some parts that are missing in the theatrical are quite important to the main plot, and its really just cut to make them shorter to fit "more normalized runtimes" which is why I hate the theatrical, I mean they are still great movies, but they just leave out to much that needs to be there. I have been forced to watch the theatrical with others more than I'd like and always they are confused about parts of the movies, which doesnt really happen with people i have watched the extended with.

They favor each other.

Enclosures or fortresses are most effective when there's a French taunter on the top.

It's still hard for me to believe that someone as beautiful as Liv Tyler came from Steven Tyler. It must have been the milkman. :)

I had the extended edition DVD with all the extras. When the actor who portrayed Theodin was getting fitted with his armor, he saw that the interior of the armor was decorated. It was something the audience would never see, but he said it made him truly feel like a king. The major deviation from the book in this movie was the Elves at Helm's Deep. Now, there were a lot of changes. But this one really upset me as a fan of the books.

Grima didn’t tell Saruman anything he didn’t know. Grima saying that stuff was for our benefit.

what an amazing reaction you really loved it jen i watched your reaction to tng before watching this so i have to warn you that there is a tiny little spider in return of the king

Toweringly terrific reaction! Wonderful you loved it so, can't wait for ROTK. The actor who played Grima Wormtongue, Brad Dourif, is in a great many films and is a really excellent actor. You saw him waaaaay back in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', he played Billy, the young man with the stutter. It's probably been said in other comments, the rider of Rohan character 'Eomer' is played by Karl Urban who you've seen as Judge Dredd and also as 'Billy Butcher' in The Boys. 31:40 "Red sky in the morning, sailor's dick warning." πŸ˜‚ 36:20 I read that in this scene when Aragorn kicks the Uruk helmet in anger, actor Viggo Mortenssen really broke a toe or two, his scream is real. They decided to leave it in the final cut. What a pro! 52:57 When Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli meet the wizard bathed in white light in Fangorn, he seems to initially have Saruman/Christopher Lee's voice, then it transitions into Gandalf / McKellen's voice. So cool! 53:25 That gasp of happiness and surprise (for Gandalf). πŸ’œ 2:52:03 Willhelm scream. πŸ˜… It's also in the other two films. 2:56:44 Director Peter Jackson makes a cameo as a spear throwing Helm's Deep soldier (blink and you'll miss it). 3:24:25 Faramir-- "Then it is forfeit." β™₯ Shout out for Game of Thrones for more unforgettable characters, swords 'n' sorcery, huge armies, power plays, intrigue, betrayal, team-ups, etc., etc. It's almost Shakespearean in excellence. Emotionally involving. The Two Towers; Complete Soundtrack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_1EVCVYjO8&list=PL0EE2AF74C18211AF www.jenmurrayxo.com

Yes, it is magnificent.

Thanks Jen

Without getting into a middle earth history lesson, Gandalf, Saruman and the Balrog are all the same type of being at heart, but each has a different task. Gandalf failed to complete his task, so was sent back, but because Saruman abdicated his responsibility, Gandalf took his place.

Tim Arnold

Excellent! I had not seen the Extended versions other than Fellowship, so it was a joy to sit and watch with Jen. πŸ˜ƒ Looking forward to the Return.

Jen, you should have a listen to the end credit song sometime. Composed and performed by Emiliana Torrini, it tells the tragic story of Gollum from his point of view. I find it hauntingly beautiful.

In my little school growing up in Montana, there was a Literature Class called "Fantasy" that you could take for a Lit credit when you were a Junior or Senior. When I was in 7th grade, I had a college reading level. My older sister when she was a Junior took that class, and she would pay me to do her homework, as the class mainly centered around the LOTR books. When I became a Junior, I took the class, tested out of it pretty early, and spent the rest of the semester using the *New at the time MacIntosh computers in the library to draw pictures of Durin's Gate. Aced that class.

"smote his ruin on the mountainside." I like that too. Yeah, they should have jailed or killed Grima. He fed info to Saruman. I know that Aragorn is a prized catch and a great person, and that he and Arwen have a special true love, but Arwen giving up immortality is too much. Not a popular or romantic opinion.

Thank you so much Jen! These movies and the books behind them mean so very much to me. I've watched them since I was super little and tried to live my life by their kindness and their optimism in defiance of fear rather than in a lack of it. There's so much love in every fiber, the music, the acting, the story itself, and every piece of armor and prop, and you're so right about the shire theme. Would recommend the score for sure. And a little less seriously I just noticed for the first time watching tonight that when Pippin finds the apple he looks up to see if it fell from an ent πŸ˜‚ Thanks for what you do, insomniac AF and these really do help people out just by being a part of this world

Amelia

Saturday morning with the Ents. it's going to be a good day

Wonderful thumbnail as always πŸ”₯ not sure when I will get to this as I have the fellowship of the ring rough edit , Seinfeld and Leon to watch yet but I shall try to fit it all in over the weekend somehow πŸ‘ oh and the two towers is my favourite book of the three it has more character depth than the movie but ofc the movie is epic as I already know your reaction will also be πŸ”₯πŸ’™

Ian

Putting on your reaction now. When I watched Two Towers in the theater (a midnight show) 20+ years ago, the Ents attack on Isengard on the big screen stood out to me.

Clay F

Just what I need to help clear my head after a rough day. I love the lord of the rings movies so much and your reaction to the first one was fantastic Jen πŸ”₯

Dylan

OMG! omg! OMG! omg!
