πŸ––Star Trek TNG S02E13-14 Full Length Reaction

That new uniform is pretty. The formal uniform. I like that color. Troi is pleasant to look at. The Icarus Factor is my favorite of these two episodes, though I like time travel stuff.

at the search just type in star trek full length, and you'll only get the full length videos instead of all the star trek videos. Just so it isn't so confusing.

Daniel

How the HECK did we go from ST TNG 1x20 to 2x13??? I signed up to Patreon just to see 1x22 full length. Where is that? Is there a more easily browsable index?

Chris Bordeman

Picard is written to be already well respected and known before commanding the Enterprise D. He becomes legendary during his Command of the 1701-D.

I literally used to walk the house tapping the walls as if i were using the consoles on TNG.

Good stuff, I liked both. I've always been fond of Time Squared ep. The actor playing Riker's father was the main villain in Lethal Weapon, he was Gary Busey's boss. Great pa-pa-pa-ing at ep 2 closing credits. :P "Sometimes forgiveness is a gift to yourself." πŸ’œ

We can really see how similar Pulaski and Kyle Riker are. She describes him as crusty on the outside soft on the inside and I feel like I've described her as such myself in an earlier comment. For good, bad, or otherwise as a couple they'd have been a force not to be fucked with, man. I also think we're supposed to get some father-son vibes from Picard and Will this episode, how proud Picard is goddamn adorable. The galactic sized eye roll from Riker when Kyle interrupts them going over the mission details is frighin' wild.

Jen, I've just been watching some special features about season 3. I am SO keen for you to start those, I can't wait to see how you react to some of the good stuff coming your way!

Anthony Peterson

"If I had a band it would be called 'The Dilithium Crystals" is nerdier than anything 'They Might Be Giants' have ever done.

Who Are These People

Something to consider with uniform colors. While the general meme is that red shirts are the most dangerous to wear in the show, that's only because more people wear red than any other color (and in the original series, that was the color of security, who were usually the more expendable ones). However, when you consider percentage of people killed in each color, gold actually had the highest casualty rate. Of all the colors, blue is the safest both when it comes to numbers and percentage. ;-)

Chris Biebel

LOVE the new uniform!

John

The gibberish we got when Picard shot Picard made me laugh.

Andrew

Riker's affinity for jazz was brought up back in 11001001. I believe this is the second time we've seen it.

Absolute0

Can we get some merch with Jen in a medical Starfleet uniform and a caption underneath saying 'Theorise!'. I'd like a mug with that on.

Patrick

What's the Riker jazz timeline? I feel like this is a fairly early sly mention at his love of jazz. Also I've only just realised the sign of a good theme for a long standing TV show is lots of really well done elements. You're gonna watch and listen to it a hundred times so each time you've got some good visuals to watch and a theme with an orchestra of different instruments to listen to.

Patrick

Really enjoyed both episodes and ofc the look of joy on your face before every episode as you're about to give us your rendition of the theme tune 😊 sidenote you make a beautiful science officer the blue looks fantastic on you πŸ––πŸ”₯

The essential quality of Doctor Pulaski is most certainly NOT empathy. Rather her passion for her profession. - But I can imagine why THIS text was chosen :-D

How O'Brian spontaneously becomes part of the family :-D and the doctor too.

Of course, the Enterprise is not just any ship - not like Voyager, or Discovery, or Ceritos, or the (whose feelings could you hurt) ;-) The Enterprise is the lead ship of the entire Starfleet - it always has been.

I feel like Bones at least had a good bedside manner. She's just a bit cold with everyone.

Patrick

I get that she was supposed to be the new Bones but (for me) that just hasn't landed, and it's not because she's a woman, I would feel the same if they had cast a man in the role. While I didn't see all the eps of the Original Series, Bones always struck me as quite emotional, a hot head. Pulaski comes across (to me) as the opposite. It's not that I dislike her character, but I don't think I'm seeing in her what some of you see, maybe because I haven’t seen her whole character arc yet? 🀷

Jen M

My gratitude knows no bounds - at this moment - for the person who sent Jen the new uniform. She looks stunning in it!

Two more down! Neither of these are on my personal top ten either, but I am really looking forward to the next two. There is nothing really all that memorable about Time Squared. A good episode on the first few times through the series, a little stressful and confusing, and it's fun to watch the crew struggle with that. The Icarus Factor is a little more interesting. Many think it is a Riker episode, but I see it more as a Pulaski episode. The show runners were a little taken aback at this point; Pulaski had not had a great reception by the fans. This was an episode where if we still had Dr. Crusher, the story would have been pretty different. I think the show runners tried very hard to come up with a few stories for Pulaski, hoping the fans would fall in love with her. The one scene that makes me cringe is when Riker is pouring the eggs into the pan, and Pulaski says, "Ah, Commander, you have a practiced hand!" or something to that effect. Dude, he is pouring eggs into a pan - it's not that hard! And the doors wanting to close before all of them get in the room. And the trope of Whorf likes gross food. Not that last time we will see that one. There are some good tender moments in this episode. That Riker and Troi hug is a great moment - it really shows how much they care for each other and how much they have been through together. Thank you so much for going through these - I look forward to them every week, and I love getting to watch this show with you. I hope you are having fun with them as well.

Damon Corrigan

Thanks for the reactions, I look forward to them!

and these little friendship/family moments like with riker making scrambled eggs for everyone is *exactly* what is missing in todays star trek. absolutely love those scenes. edit: also someone get jen some Lt.-Com. Pins for her uniform! :D

Alecco

Make it so, Doctor Jennifer! Love me some TNG with the queen of reactions.

Anthony Peterson

If you were to ask me out of context what I thought of The Icarus Factor I'd probably call it a "meh." But then every time I watch it I really appreciate the character building and acting. It's not amazeballs by any stretch but I feel like it's better than we give it credit for. Time Squared is just a good, sciencey Star Trek mystery. I'm with Jen, timey stuff is always fun and Patrick Stewart is always great when put front and centre. And you certainly wore the right uniform for this one!

Absolute0

To boldly go where no one has gone before.

Raven Dark

so one thing i think about Pulaski is that she is SO much like bones. the difference is that kirk was fond of bones and we had a trope of men being firm and clear and woman being emotional. Pulaski is serious, committed. If bones stated his responsibility as a doctor to pay attention to the mental capacity of the captain we'd find it noble.

Castanea

these are the voyages of the starship Enterprise...

The final frontier.
