I was twelve when I first watched this it was a huge movie 😎I tried to hack with my Spectrum plus 48k home computer but no dice 🤣🤣🤣

Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer... a number of people I like were in that movie... now, if only Godzilla had been in Godzilla (1998), it could have been a much better movie.

Thomas Yanez

Mathew Broderick also starred in 1998 Godzilla. Ally Sheedy also starred in a nerdy robot movie Short Circuit.

"Gotta love a Jennifer" indeed lol 😘 Fun reaction Jen....and this movie still seems a little too close for comfort. Siri, launch the nukes! No, wait, Siri - order pizza instead!

Ian Hunter (NewbieInOttawa)

Good call on the Manhattan Project, John, that was a good one. I think John Mahoney was in that as well, if my sieve-like memory is correct lol. Lithgow's a great actor.

Couple spots in this where my audio dropped out, will be fixed for YouTube!

Jen M

Oh yes sorry those are being fixed!

Jen M

Yes, Ferris Bueller is a fun one.

Jennypenny is knocking it out of the park this week. There's a definite tone shift between the silo scene and the rest of the movie due to it being a scene the original director shot. He got canned for some reason, I don't know why. I watch this movie from time to time to re-live growing up during the Cold War 80s and how we survived. I watch The Day After and Threads from time to time to be thankful that we did. My friends and I lived about 25 miles from Atlanta at the time. We all hoped it was close enough to not survive the initial attack if it ever happened.

Barry Hammock

Another worthwhile 1980's movie about a teenage genius who gets mixed up with nuclear weapons was The Manhattan Project, featuring John Lithgow in essentially the same supporting role as Dabney Coleman here.

John Walters

did you have some microphone malfunctions, or were you swearing? 🤣

Randy Aiken

More Mathew Brodrick: "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986), "The Producers" (2005).
