Mission: Impossible 2 (2000) Full Length Reaction

This is not Mission: Difficult, Mr. Hunt, it's Mission: Impossible.

I've heard this isn't the best of the franchise but I still thought it was super fun! Disguises, gadgets, explosions, heisting, sexy lady thief-- lots of good stuff here! Really reeeeeally looking forward to the next one!

Edit: I forgot John Woo directed Face/Off! If you missed my reaction to that go check it out! Sooo wild lol

Please excuse my coughing, I think I turned the volume down for them all but I may have missed some.

⭐ Special thanks to Producers: MattN, Todd Preble, Incognito, John Walters, JT, Noby, SwimintheRain, John Gray, Randy Aiken, Barry Hammock, Celeste McAllister, Nick Corning, OrangeLion, Philip Mercier, Paul  Zawicki, Jeb Manning, Thomas Amann, Cool Beans, Gary Smith, Kevin Whitted, richard burns, Ian Hunter, Sock Puppet, Jason Scade + those who wish to remain uncredited :)

Mission: Impossible 2 (2000) Full Length Reaction

Comments

Sure excited for all the next ones, Those are just better Imo. Not that the first and second one are bad, but They only get better

As for John Woo movies... the pinnacle of over-the-top, monkey-ass-insane 90's action would have to be Nicolas Cage and John Travolta in "Face/Off" (1997)... which you've already watched with us.

Thomas Yanez

I do enjoy the Metallica song at end credits.

I would agree with Mr Writhms in that, this one isn't terrible per se, just if you are going to rank all of them one has to be the worst and in this case it's 2. The music just feels off, the style doesn't fit the overall theme, and the plot falls short. It it is heavily inspired by an older movie(in fact you could even call it a remake) but they didn't do it justice... the romance feels really contrived and doesn't fit the characters. That doesn't mean it can't be a fun popcorn action movie though!! The third one brings it back up and 4 on it the franchise really hits its stride with awesome movies they are now!

MattN

Fallout was great, especially Henry Cavill, but Ghost Protocol is my favorite of the franchise. I just love everything about that one.

The absolute best thing about this film is that it tied up Dougray Scott (who???) so he was unavailable to start filming X-Men, forcing them to recast Wolverine with Hugh Jackman.

Tim Arnold

"Run that bastard down." Great Scottish accent! 😂 I'm glad you enjoyed this outing, MI:3 and onwards are much better. For John Woo, you may like his Hollywood WWII film, 'Windtalkers' (2002). The critics weren't impressed but it has intense action/battle scenes and at least 3 famous faces you will know. 'The Killer' (1989) and 'Hard Boiled' (1992) are probably Woo's best two Hong Kong films. The virus creator actor who you said seemed familiar to you is Brendan Gleeson, he was in Edge of Tomorrow. He played the general Tom Cruise tries to blackmail to get out of frontline duties. BG is a fab actor, he is great in everything he is in. He is the lead in an excellent crime-drama biopic about an infamous Irish gangster; Martin Cahill. It is called 'The General' (1998), which was Cahill's nickname on the street.

I wouldn't say the fan consensus of this movie is "terrible". It's just the least favorite. It's still a pretty good action movie. Its felt John Woo's style didn't play well with Mission Impossible. And Woo sure loves his slow motion shots. Plus Zimmer's funk/rock version of the theme... ehh. The original theme will return, thank goodness. So since you liked this one, you are going to love the others! They just keep getting better and better from here on. 🙂👍

Mr. Writhms

I never felt like this movie was terrible, I just thought the style was wrong for the franchise

Not seen this since it came out, I saw it twice at the theatre when I was 14, I loved it then. Let’s see if I still love it now Can’t wait till you get to M:I Fallout, that’s one of the best action films ever

StuWoolf

I hope you are feeling better. I haven’t watched this yet, but I just wanted to agree with Ian and Jonathan suggesting Hard Target. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, so how it holds up today I can’t say, but I remember it fondly.

James Hadden

Glad you are back! 👍

Ian Cano

I'll have to rewatch that reaction. Hard Target is great and definitely worth a watch.

Jonathan Callinan-Sullivan

Oh I forgot he directed Face/Off! I reacted to that one a while ago! 👍

Jen M

John Woo made Hard Target with Van Damme in 1993. Great over the top action and one of Van Dammes best films! He also did Face/Off with Nic Cage and John Travolta in 1997. Another great 90s action film.
