Schulz and Lee Mendelson sold the show to the Coca Cola company (during a time when product placement and in-script ads weren't a thing), but were given only six months to put it together for the 1965 Christmas season (I turned 9 a few weeks after watching for the first time). The voice actors were children, all younger than 10. The script was simple and had a non-commercialist message (interestingly, also a story about inclusion and diversity, in terms of the little tree). The soundtrack was some public-domain Christmas carols plus jazz legend Vince Guaraldi and his trio. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" has become one of the most beloved Christmas Albums of all time. It is certified quintuple platinum and was voted into the Grammy Hall of Fame a decade ago, in addition to being added to the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry a few years later.
