[CLOSED] The Harry Potter Book Club! - Your Notes for Chapters 20 & 21 of The Goblet of Fire!

THIS PART OF THE BOOK CLUB IS NOW COMPLETE! THANKS FOR TAKING PART AND HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT TIME!! :)

Oof-Tee-Poof, everyone!! 👋

Here is a chance to get your comment read out in the next Book review video!

If you are reading along with the reviews, we are covering chapters "The First Task" & "The House-Elf Liberation Front"! So if you have any thoughts, opinions, comparisons or questions regarding these, please leave a comment below!

I do have to ask, try to keep them fairly short, like 4 or 5 sentences.  That way I can cover more when making the video.  Also try to keep them on subject and not referencing anything that we are yet to cover. Ideally, keep it to 1 comment each if you can (if you have more to say after commenting, you can edit it and add to it! :) ).  These are just rough guidelines rather than rules, I want to be able to fit in as many of you as possible! :)

NEW FEATURE!! - As some of you may want to make a comment, but not have it replied to by others, you can now Message me your thoughts on the chapters by DM'ing me on here.  If you do, please follow all the above rules, especially avoiding mentioning things in future chapters or books!  Oh and please start your DM message with "Book Club -"!

To anyone that does reply to comments below, please make sure you are being friendly and respectful!  A lot of tone and meaning can be lost in text, after all!  If you disagree with someone on something, keep it polite and remember the golden rule in life - Sometimes you have to just agree to disagree! :)

Thanks, guys!! :)

Hi Veggie! Love these chapters in the book! Love that we see Harry properly practicing for the task - would have made a great Rocky-style training montage in the movie if they included it :) Speaking of which, this first task depiction is the point I started hating the movie! I hated that they had to squeeze in unnecessary action scenes purely for the action sake. Did not make any sense. As if a dragon would chase poor Harry all over the castle when there were hundreds of other people just sitting there and screaming, and when she was just trying to protect her eggs. This is what made the film too Hollywoodified for me and I really didn't like that. Btw Hermione's comment to Harry when they finish practicing Accio - Harry worrying about it working when the broom is going to be so far in the castle - and Hermione saying it doesn't matter as long as he concentrates... It made me wonder about the range of spells. Does that mean that in theory he could summon things let's say from London, as long as he knew exactly where they were and concentrating really really hard? Or what do you think would be the coolest way to use that, if spells really work on such long range? Looking forward to your reaction!

Hi Veggie! I really appreciate the book club and am excited to be making my first book club comment. I had to comment on this one since it is my favorite book. I don't think I've read it any more than the others, but this chapter is where the pages are starting to fall apart a bit. -The binding is fragile! ;) I always get so impatient with Harry not picking up on Moody's hint right away about how to get past the dragon, though I'm sure I only think it's obvious because I've read it before. I wish they'd put more about learning the Accio charm in the movie. People who watch the movie first don't seem to understand what's happening in that scene. Plus, I love how the book has this extra challenge of mastering the spell before outwitting the dragon. It makes it that much more awesome when Harry succeeds. I'm sure you've covered it by now, but I'll be interested to hear exactly what you think Crouch was saying to Winky about Bagman. Take care and keep up the good work!
