Weekly Update #1

Hey everyone!
Holy cow... thank you for all of your support! I've been hesitant about Patreon for a long time and was pretty nervous launching, so I appreciate the outpouring of support over the last week. I'm looking forward to moving ahead with everything and getting you involved in the process.
Just a quick recap about how content/posts here will work:
- Every Friday I'll be writing up a quick update with some works-in-progress for you to listen to.
- The last Friday of every month, I'll be posting a poll for you to vote on a few works-in-progress that you'd like for me to make progress on.
- The last Friday of every month, ANimals Tiers and up will receive downloads of that month's posted works-in-progress.
- And once a month I'll be spending time w/ the Creative Crew & Executive Producers taking feedback on my works-in-progress towards the end of the month. I will be reaching out to these tiers to see what day works best for all of us.
I should note that after today, these updates will be much shorter to keep things concise and centered on the music! And now, on to the music!

Since it's the first week, I selected 7 projects that I've been working on over the last couple of months. Moving forward, I don't think it'll be this many previews - probably more like 2-3 each week. Also, all of the music you'll be hearing on the feed is not finished, so it will vary with regards to quality and detail.
- 0:00 - Run Free: Progressive house, piano focused track that I started in February. I wrote it with vocals in mind, but i don't like the drop that's there. The arrangement is good, but I want something more current for the drop.
- 1:22 - Reach: Liquid DnB track I started in January. The chords are strong and I really like the instruments I used in the break, but I think I'll redo the drop completely. The bass is pretty delish though!
- 2:19 - Melon Collie: This was a fun one to work on but I'm leaning towards not finishing it. I was messing around with some slower tempos and some swing in the rhythms and it turned out pretty cool, but nothing too great.
- 3:18 - Stuck: This is a future bass track I wrote in January and it's basically complete but I don't think it's super strong. It was written with a vocal in mind but I'm not sure that would make the song better. I spent a lot of time on the verse percussion so that's my favorite part. I dunno, it just kind of feels dated or 'lifeless' - maybe? Sound design wise, this was really cool to work on though because I did a lot differently and learned some new things!
- 4:30 - Weird DnB Thing: This is just a really basic idea but I really liked the arpeggiated lead in this on top of the chords. Nothing other than that really stands out so I don't think I'd finish this one. Pretty sure the percussion is just loops atm - nothing special.
Pretty often I just sit down at my piano and just see what comes out. These 2 projects came from sessions like this, so they're definitely bare bones. But the chords stood out to me and have a strong emotion attached to the theme of "home". Not sure how often I'll do this but since it's the first week, I thought it'd be cool to show y'all something more basic.
- 5:40 - Home: I envision this turning into a progressive house or more pop/edm style track. The progression really gives you a sense of warmth and familiarity. I'd want this one to be a vocal track about home and how that makes you feel.
- 6:16 - Search for Home: This one is a lot more sad, but I really like how the progression changes at the very end. The short, melody line of the piano at 6:45 was originally me singing the words "I found home" and feeling the warmth in the chord progression come through right on the word "home". I really like this since it tells a story, but I'm not sure it could be a "traditional" electronic track. It also reminds me very much of Final Fantasy - specifically FFVII.
And that's it for today! Enjoy the music, I'll see you on stream, and I hope you have a great weekend!
- Andrew
