Patreon Preview - Flameless Ration Heaters and Self Heating Food

A preview of my upcoming video on flameless ration heaters. I still have to make the graphics. And i'm also trying to film another heater type, the reaction of calcium oxide and aluminum powder. Anyway, let me know what you think and how it can be improved.

I get a kick out of the dry chemical hand warmers that use iron and salt to react slowly. Not the same class of heat, but handy in some situations.

Possible other mention would be the power delivery limitations of a portable USB battery for phones and whatnot. They are very useful, but are only good for about 10W, for the normal ones. I'm not sure what the USB-C ones can put out. An online calculator claims that to heat 100mL of water from 25-55C with 10W, it will take 21 minutes. That's theoretical though, and a lot of camping gear will shed heat from the metal. It may be fun to build a USB-powered heater from "vape wire", a test tube, some mineral oil, and a small pocket of air. The air will help keep the internal pressures down, and would probably work better if the tube is melt-sealed with the oil hot, so it's normally at a low internal pressure.
