We've been working on the clear wood project for days and days, and it's turning out to be a lot more difficult than expected. The process can kinda be broken down into 2 parts: chemical bleaching, and resin infusion. We've gotten better and better at the bleaching process over several attempts (see the latest in the pic below) but we're still not sure if the chemicals are getting all the way into the wood since ours is a little thicker than the wood in the paper.

On the resin infusion side, we've been using slow cure resin, infusing it into the wood in the vacuum chamber and pressure pot, but it always starts kicking before all the bubbles get vacuumed out. So we're trying "thick set" resin which is thinner and takes way WAY longer to cure, that way we can leave it in the vacuum chamber longer. Wish us luck!
