okay, re: Annette, I took it as, I took over his ongoing research, human subjects (ongoing) and all. In my head, she's Mengele-esque. And if Mengele felt bad for his wild human "experimentation" after the fact, I don't suddenly feel bad for Mengele. That said, if she didn't ACTUALLY pick up the experiments, maybe I'll feel differently. I was thinkin Lena would rather have a shitty friend than be alone.

damn, I guess the alba are about to put their bodies and blood where their mouths are

@7:28 - yeah, you are misunderstanding! Remember last episode when they were at the 86 memorial Frederica said she rebuild Fido from scratch. The Federacy split our 86 folks up so that they could support more places at once, but she wants to bring them back together again. She has her heart on the right place I think! @13:29 - she has been planning a high mobility machine for a long time before they got here, what she DID get was the combat log from their old machines, but the project was already ongoing. And the Feldress (the type of mechs in this series) are much older, originally from one other country and the Empire of Giad's been using them for a very long time, the Republic didn't like them because they were "inferior foreign creations" and and only after the start of the war with the Empire they tried copying them but could only make that crappy aluminum coffin. Juggernaut is the model that was used in the Republic, Reginleif is the name of the new one Grethe made, it IS the name of the model of the robot. Look, I'm THE biggest Shin fan out here, but he was the one wrong here. 😂 @27:58 - when the show says "imperial blood" they mean blood from the nobles of the Empire of Giad. @49:51 - no, to sum all the conversation up he means he hates the alba and the alba would rather die than let the 86 inside the Wall, and thus he was going to do his thing at the end so that Lena managed to open the gates. He was an idealist that was broken into a nihilist. He's foil to idealist Lena. No named character in this series is one dimensional, for better or for worse! 💖✨

Fun Fact: The gun used by Lena's Uncle looks like it has been maintained this entire time, it's not one he just grabbed from the armory. They also show he has scuffed combat boots and scars. So he was definitely a veteran of the initial Giad invasion, and was already resolved to go down fighting. I personally find his character fascinating - He hates how the Republic has become, and has become both a pessimist, and a pragmatist. He doesn't believe the 86 will help them after all the Republic has become, but he is willing to protect Lena and her "foolish Dream" until "naive dreams are shattered against reality." Really, she should have been kicked out of the military by now, or arrested by the military police. But ever since the show started he's been protecting her from most of the fallout. And now that Lena is taking charge of all the Processors, I'm sure there are people in the military who would try to take charge, but it looks like the Uncle is gonna buy her time.

Heads up, you missed a Post Credit scene at the end of Ep 15!

I can explain what I understand of the character of Lena's uncle. From what I understand, he seems to be a person lost in pessimism and despair. He probably lost all faith in humanity when he saw how his people oppressed the 86 the second their nation fell into crisis. He probably joined the military along with his brother Vaclav (Lena's dad) with ideals about correcting their nation's sins, but his efforts being in vain along with Vaclav's death must have snuffed out any remaining embers of hope he might've had. Throughout the series, he keeps cautioning Lena against siding with the 86, but never gives the impression that he thinks that Lena is in the wrong. He thinks it's all futile. Lena has spoken out against the crimes of her country, and she doesn't even seem afraid to do so. I would say she has been met with quite a surprising lack of punishment considering her actions. This confirms to me that her uncle has been doing everything he can, and pulling on every string he has, to protect her. When the legion attack happens in this episode, he says that if they let the 86 inside, a massacre of their people would be the best case scenario, but we can predict from history that the retaliation from the 86 would probably include atrocities like torture and rape, in which case, the country would still die in the end. He thinks that rather than that slow and painful end, its better to just die their deserved deaths at the hands of the legion. In that last conversation with Lena, I'm pretty sure he is resolving himself to go into the room where all the commander convene, and shoot down anyone who would hinder Lena from taking the command. He fully believes that Lena's efforts will be in vain, but it is still his responsibility to support her the best he can, to his dying breath. The slight sideways smile he gives her at the end might've been his pride for Lena for having the strength to keep striving towards her ideals until the very end.

I think I should mention this: I'm pretty sure Annette did not directly cause any more 86 victims in her research. Her exact words were "So I took over the research my dad did, victims and all!" There’s some ambiguity in that line, but considering the full context of the story and her character, the more accurate interpretation is that she inherited research that was based on unethical experiments — not that she continued creating new victims herself. Annette is shown to be deeply conflicted and guilt-ridden about the way her father’s research was built on the suffering of the 86. She didn’t replicate his atrocities, but she still used the results, and that’s what haunts her. Her emotional breakdown is tied to that moral compromise — benefiting from cruelty, even if she didn’t personally perpetuate it. So when she says “victims and all,” she’s acknowledging that the knowledge she uses today came from unethical methods and human suffering. It’s more about complicity through inaction and inheritance, not active abuse. The biggest reason why I believe this interpretation to be true is cuz last we saw, Lena and Annette's relationship is slowly being repaired. Lena wouldn't be engaging in that if she actually perpetuated cruelty.
