I think the implication with Echidna is that she's a complete sociopath/psychopath, whichever one it is. She has no empathy whatsoever, and most of the time she's just mimicking emotions to get what she wants. All of her interactions with Subaru were basically just her play-acting, behaving in a way to get Subaru to form a contract with her. He calls her out on everything, insults her to her face, and she just smiles because she doesn't care about what he actually feels about her beyond what she's trying to get out of him. And she's so easily able to that because she had access to all of his memories thanks to the trials. So with Beatrice, she doesn't have any genuine affection for her - or at the very least whatever affection that may be there takes a huge sideline when it comes to getting what she wants. And what she wants is knowledge. Beatrice's whole conflict is just an experiment to Echidna, so she's happy with any outcome regardless of Beatrice's feelings on the matter.

No Consequence

To clarify on the Roswaal being a part of destroying Rem and Ram's village thing.. that's technically incorrrct but it is understandable how many can misunderstand it based on what the anime has told us. Or the english sub translation, I don't know which is it. He didn't literally destroy their village. He wasn't there, and he isn't a witch cultist. What Roswaal meant by being responsible was.. he knew about the destruction of the village as an event from his reading of the Tome of Wisdom. But he didn't intervene or do anything about it. I interpret this information as to mean he took advantage of the tragedy (that he knew would happen) by being able to coincidentally be there AFTER it happened to take the twins in for his own benefit. Having strong oni twins as personal guards to provide protection for Emilia and have as maids for his mansion.. yeeah of course. This is why Roswaal frames himself as being the man responsible. It doesn't matter that he didn't literally destroy their home. The fact he had prior knowledge of it happening and did nothing about it is the same as doing it in his eyes.
