Quick Lesson: Math Rock Shred Hybrid Picking Lick
Added 2022-06-01 05:12:19 +0000 UTCA complex little lick that you can use to practice your hybrid picking and left hand dexterity. Some extra notes about this lick:
1) The rhythmic flow is based around continuous 16th notes. I've tried to model it after something you might hear in really fast midwest emo flow, but I've tried to incorporate more string skipping into my gestures in order to give it a more "mathy" broken sound
2) the harmony is based around something like an Fmaj7sus2 chord with a D note as sort of a passing tone.
3) It's really important to practice this one slowly at first, and to a metronome. Wait a bit before you try to speed it up as it gets quite busy.
4) If you want to write a line like this, think about interplay; you want both the left and the right hand to be pretty active in the playing / movements.
