THANK YOU so so much for addressing the cognitive dissonance/willful bad arguments of "suicide post-op is high because Trans folk regret the operation." It boggles my mind that people's first thought process when addressing this isn't "perhaps depression/suicide are high in the trans community because of ostracization/bigotry/THE QUASI-TOTAL STRIPPING OF RIGHTS AND VOICE AND SUPPORT FROM THE SOCIAL CONTRACT YOU LIVE IN" and instead is "wElL oBvIoUsLy iT's bEcAuSe tHeY rEgReT bEiNg tRaNs." Like it's hard not to assume they're making a bad faith argument and are not just misinformed or ignorant about the subject. When you are stripped of your voice, of your person, from the community that is meant to protect you, you are virtually being told you don't matter and that it wouldn't matter if you disappeared. Also sorry for the caps. I live in Florida. This isn't just something I deeply care about that's on my front door, it's something that has moved in without my consent and snarls sinisterly while eating my groceries. Like a bad roach infestation.
