GAM Bonus 015: Transformers - The Last Knight
Added 2017-08-12 02:13:26 +0000 UTCWith vacations at the end of last month, it took us a while to get this one recorded and edited; so we apologize for getting it to you late. That being said, to make up for it, we got Opening Arguments very own Andrew Torrez to come in and allow us to listen to the innocent love of his childhood get crushed by a CGI-happy minion of greed and bad taste.

Man, this is hilarious yet uncomfortable to listen to in 2024. When I heard that Anthony Hopkins sassy robot butler was a headmaster, I instantly assumed that Anthony Hopkins would completely fold at the waist with his ass in the air and become a robot head, with his head shoved into the butler's neck. I would buy that toy.

2024-09-09 12:03:49 +0000 UTCWhat did Andrew think of Bumblebee? Personally, I loved it.

2024-04-02 14:13:57 +0000 UTCI feel like we all know why Quintessa wants a giant dragon

2022-10-02 20:34:07 +0000 UTCWait isn't king Arthur derived from Cornish lore ,like wasn't he trying to repeal the saxon invaders

2019-10-26 23:30:07 +0000 UTCPoor Andrew. 😔

2017-09-08 12:22:32 +0000 UTCI loved the premise of one of you not seeing the movie and asking questions/having it described to you, and being continually shocked by the absurdity. It made this one of my favorite GAMs ever. I think it'd get old if it happened every time, but I hope you do it again occasionally.

2017-08-30 18:13:02 +0000 UTCWe are missing some of the great 80's movies. I recommend "Cobra", with Sylvester Stallone.

2017-08-22 16:27:48 +0000 UTCYou guys should do Battleship - a Michael Bay produced film that is actually (in context) a big F You to Bay by the Director. While still being a terrible Michael Bay action flick.

2017-08-16 18:08:53 +0000 UTCgreat episode. wondering why youdidnt mention the shit scientist who didnt want to rely on magic and was a cunt
Josh Carter
2017-08-15 22:06:36 +0000 UTCI haven't heard Blödsinn in years. Thanks for bringing me back to my childhood. But did your Mutti always throw Na Yah at you?
jessica
2017-08-14 16:32:30 +0000 UTCI agree. When you get that pure shock of how dumb something is....

2017-08-14 15:24:20 +0000 UTCPatreon goal! Andrew buys back all his toys.
Anne of Beeves
2017-08-14 14:11:37 +0000 UTCI like it better when Noah watches the movie. It's weird being critical of it if you haven't seen it.
Anne of Beeves
2017-08-14 14:09:52 +0000 UTCYou'd feel weightless inside the spinning thingy, because you're pulled in all directions equally. But unless it's in free fall, you'd feel the effect of Earth's gravity. Which is a lot of gravity.
Anne of Beeves
2017-08-14 14:07:41 +0000 UTCSo, I feel like we've been building to this for a long time and it's finally arrived: in this episode Eli has gone full 'Patton Oswalt,' and I couldn't have enjoyed it more. Thank you, gentlemen!

2017-08-14 03:29:41 +0000 UTCOoh ooh! Nitpick time! Haven't seen the movie so I don't know how it goes down exactly, but the whole "no gravity inside a thing" is actually true. It's tough to explain the math and physics behind it exactly, but when taking measurements *inside* an object that creates a field (like gravity or electromagnetism), no field effects are felt. Hypothetically, if there Earth were hollow inside you wouldn't feel any gravity inside of it. Cybertron getting so close to the Earth is fucking stupid though. Loved Andrew crunching the numbers.

2017-08-14 02:32:42 +0000 UTCHow did Eli missing commenting on the fact that Marky Mark threaten to punch a kid in the face?
Mr Pudifoot
2017-08-13 14:08:13 +0000 UTC"No, but there's good robotic excretion in the scene" could be the single best sentence ever said on GAM.
James Russell
2017-08-13 09:37:32 +0000 UTCBullshit. None of this happened. You guys are liars. This isn't a real thing.
Sam Schwartz
2017-08-13 05:02:40 +0000 UTCI really liked having one person who hasn't watched the movie. I wouldn't be opposed to making it a regular thing
Andrew Campbell
2017-08-13 04:09:43 +0000 UTCThank you for this episode. it was a welcome distraction from the world.

2017-08-13 03:47:24 +0000 UTCI really like the flow when two of you explain to one of you. Maybe try it with some of the regular GAM .
Sarah Fullerton
2017-08-13 03:01:58 +0000 UTCHey Eli... If Anthony Hopkins' role here made you sad, go look up who played Unicron in the 1986 Transformers film.
EffDee
2017-08-12 22:10:08 +0000 UTCOne movie that must get the GAM bonus treatment: Starcrash
yokailover
2017-08-12 19:48:17 +0000 UTCHooray for having Andrew on this! Just one correction Andrew: Wreck-Gar was voiced by Eric Idle of Monty Python. ;)
EffDee
2017-08-12 18:41:11 +0000 UTCYou made a joke about the correct name of a 6-horned Unicron; Uni is from Latin, so I believe he would actually be called Sexicron. Not to be confused with SexyCon, which is the local annual orgy.
Adorable Bastard
2017-08-12 16:52:50 +0000 UTClistening to this at work in my first hour to wake up with laughs, also Please have Andrew on more episodes! He's hilarious
Edgar Almanza
2017-08-12 11:56:07 +0000 UTCI LOVED that you had Andrew on this one. Hearing him geek out over Transformers was priceless.
Robyn
2017-08-12 11:32:10 +0000 UTCThis was quite literally a wish come true so I'm gonna throw this out there for sometime in the future: Suicide Squad

2017-08-12 08:23:53 +0000 UTCGuys you have to watch and eventually do "The Circle". Super mainstream, so many best at being the worsts and such a conflated and absurd plot that it's just up your alley. That movie would have been better WITH Markey Mark. That's how sad it was.
Christine Garam
2017-08-12 06:49:48 +0000 UTCMan, everybody butchers "das Boot". Quit working so hard. It's pronounced just like "boat". I'm having flashbacks of watching Beerfest in college. "'Boot' is 'Stiefel' and its feminine! Kompletter Blödsinn!

2017-08-12 05:54:08 +0000 UTC"Me, Grimlock, resent portrayl in these movies!"

2017-08-12 03:44:24 +0000 UTCNow, now... the Roman Empire was a multicultural society. Hadrian's wall was manned by Numidians. Several of the later emperors were non-Europeans.

2017-08-12 03:36:42 +0000 UTCFive words: The films of Neil Breen.
Thomas J Wood
2017-08-12 02:58:12 +0000 UTCI feel so close to Andrew right now. I'm a (non-practicing) lawyer and a Transformers G1 was a huge part of my early childhood.
Thomas J Wood
2017-08-12 02:56:45 +0000 UTCThank you, needed this tonight. But I feel you sometimes need to watch like good bad moves. You need to find the secular "Blood Freak", something that is not such a slog to get through.
