Bannock's Guide to the Monsters of Mejina
Osteolith
Man, I just CANNOT TAKE THESE LITTLE GUYS SERIOUSLY! Look at their little faces! I just wanna scritch em under the chin and call them a good little bonepile. Rattly boys. Yeah.
...Okay, so now that I've gotten it out of my system. DON'T do ANY of what I just said.
As funky as they look, Osteoliths are brutal. They stay buried in the ground most of the time, but they leave the upper part of their body exposed and you can recognize that trademark ribcage real quick. They can still attack like this, even if they can't aim, so tread carefully.
Osteoliths attack using concentrated light beams that can Dazzle, Stun, Cripple or even kill depending on intensity. It takes them about 15 seconds to charge, and when they're up out of the ground, they are LETHALLY accurate. Don't depend on them attacking once every fifteen seconds either; they can just charge up and HOLD IT for however long they like. Something I like to do when I find one is throwing rocks at it from around a corner or in cover; at least until it fires.
Don't piss them off. And as much as I hate to admit it, they can't be kept as pets.
I've Tried.
Stahl's Notes: Much like the now extinct Creakster of old, the Osteolith isn't actually made of bones at all. In fact we're fairly certain the 'bone' is actually a specialized enamel covering for the same type of Red and Purple crystal that grow's out of Vasen bodies.
They are particularly weak to concussive weapons since the core crystal is fragile and destroying it will cause the creature to lose its ability to sustain itself.
Its better to avoid them if you can but if in a scenario where you MUST fight them, this is your best bet.
