Brian Waggoner made the announcement on Twitter that he would be swapping EA Sports for Crystal Dynamics and, while fans were a little wary of his previous experience on games like Madden, he also played an integral role in the well-received Marvel Heroes.
- The hope is that Waggoner will be able to help turn things around for Crystal Dynamics, as their Avengers title hasn't been having the best time of it since launch. Waggoner's appointment is also encouraging as it means Square Enix haven't given up on the game just yet, despite it being an unyielding money pit.
Google Stadia is finally getting a search function
An upcoming update will finally add an actual search function to the ailing streaming service which had until now relied on players simply scrolling through the games on offer until they found what they wanted.
- A lot of folks online are poking fun at Stadia for how big a deal they're making about the update. Leaving aside the fact that Google operate the biggest search engine on the planet but never thought to add search functionality to their gaming tech - it's taken 16 months for Stadia to be searchable. Granted, Stadia only has like 170 games anyway so maybe scrolling to them is just as easy.
Annapurna are teasing some Outer Wilds DLC
Some eagle-eyed fans spied mention of an unannounced DLC called Echoes of Eye on Steam's backend and, once publisher Annapurna Interactive picked up on the speculation, posted a few teasing Tweets to lend fuel to it.
- We're not sure what the DLC will entail just yet or even when it will release, but it could be related to the game's Eye of the Universe - a mysterious item that would only gain further mystery with a new story focusing on it. At any rate, Outer Wilds is a stellar game and more of it is a very good thing indeed.
Naughty Dog have a story written for The Last of Us Part III
The confirmation comes courtesy of studio head Neil Druckmann who, speaking on the Script Apart podcast, confirmed that the studio have a story outline in place for a third installment but aren't working on it just yet.
- Druckmann said that Naughty Dog typically take a "long time" to explore new ideas after they ship a big project so it'll be a while before they settle on their next thing. He says games like The Last of Us take "so much to make" that you really have to be all-in on the idea, though he does hope that Part III will "see the light of day" at some stage.
