"Mental Burnout" pt. 1 - Intro and start of storyboarding.

Sorry, I don't have a name for this yet, maybe I can come up with something better, or maybe you guys will have some good suggestions (would be credited obviously) :-)

Let's see where this goes.

not sure if any of you have seen this, but here it goes, a short clip about "coloursponge", worth it. https://vimeo.com/475143976?fbclid=IwAR0BYoHc5YfbNkf2JVi8ETZJ_u9FuIzhwGxP4z9-_gqlB9-uwZBy86gmHko

As a beginner in fstorm, I'm supporting your patreon with the intention of learning fstorm features. However, the first time I saw "Life" in your youtube channel, I just felt in love with your work and now, all I want is to see your criativity and vision. I can find other ways to learn fstorm, but I will continue sopporting your work in the same way as you support Ian Hubert, even paying 5 times the value of my money, wich is brazilian real ahahahaha. Love you work JoJo, greetings from Brazil!! (sorry about my english, hope you could understand the whole message)

Its better than client work surely..you get a chance at a monthly income with lot more freedom on what you do and i would have thought, less pressure...that cant be bad :)

Hi, I have a hard time understanding your comment since you actually started a new pledge just minutes after writing this comment after you've been away from Patreon since November. If you cannot support my Patreon, which is totally fine and 100% respected, then why did you start a new pledge? :-) Regardless, to answer your question. Yes, this Patreon was originally "kind of" an educational / learning resource. However Patreon is a platform made to support other artists who's work you like. For example, I support Ian Hubert, not because I want to learn anything from him because he uses Blender, but I simply like what he does and want to support it. Personally, my problem with Patreon has been that it slowly transformed into "just another client", meaning that there are strings attached, that I'm basically forced to deliver something that someone else asked for, even though I might not always want to do it. It adds pressure, stress and "musts". Lately I've realized that Patreon can only be fun and prioritized if I'm allowed to create whatever "art" that motivates me. I'm evolving as an artist just like anyone else and my priorities change over time. Then if people don't like what I do, they are very welcome to stop their pledge. I will not say that I don't care, because of course I do, but I 100% respect if someone stops their pledge because they find no use of the content here. Regarding the poll, I guess I wasn't clear enough on my intentions. The poll wasn't made solely to get a "to do"-list of what people want to see. The poll was to help me understand why people are here, and to help me prioritize my content. It also helps me understanding what I'm risking to loose if I decide to stop with a certain topic. Since a great majority was voting for interior content, I understand that I have to keep doing it. And I had no other intentions, but I do want to prioritize some variation on this channel as well as I've been doing only interior content since the start of this Patreon page and I feel like only repeating myself. It's not like my interior workflows has changed that much over the years. And quite frankly, I'm generally pretty tired of doing interiors, I'm looking to get more into some more artistic sides of 3D. Interiors are nice, but I have a hard time calling it "art". As someone said, it's just walls, chairs and tables. I used to think differently, but nowadays I'm starting to agree. I have happily refunded your pledge.

This isn't a film I initially wanted to do, it started incedibly simple only to have something quick to be able to show you what I've been R&D'ing lately. I wanted a small project to introduce mocap, virtual cameras, post processing etc on my Patreon. However as always the project grows and new ideas take shape. I agree that this cinematic may not be the best, which is also why I mentioned in the video that I doubt I can artistically justify the topic. I see this project as a warm up for something bigger. Regarding drops, most of the stuff in this short project will be able to be shared as I won't use much pre-made assets. Most buildings, trees, props etc will have to be made from scratch, Maybe I'll have to use some textures from other sources as I'm not really capable of capturing great large scale asphalt textures for example. Or maybe I could but I need to learn it myself first. Then how useful these drops are for people is certainly questionable, but I'll continue working with my interior scenes in the mean time as well. I realize that the 19dollar tier hasn't been very useful lately, but I do indeed encourage people to drop to the lower tier if they find no value in it :-)

aaah thanks for clearing that up. :-) Yes their collab seems to be an incredibly well oiled machine!

Thanks, appreciate that :)

Haha sorry, I'll change :)

Thanks :-)

Thank you. This has been slightly covered in various videos but never a dedicated video for it. I'd love to do this and have been thinking about it for so long, it's just that I'm not really confident in myself knowing enough to even make a worthy video about it. Maybe it's the modesty speaking, but I can't really see anything I do that's worth talking about. All I do regarding composition and lighting is merely based on a gut feeling rather than science, and gut feelings are hard to explain. :P However I'd love to give it a shot. This guy at IKEA was Bengt Larsson and now works at Rapid Images. I really wish I could quote him, but it was so many years ago that I' basically just guessing. :-/

This Patreon feels more and more uneven over time - it feels a lot more like this Patreon is trying to generate an interest free loan to pursue whatever creative interest you currently have, rather than provide a service to its members. The Patreon was originally posted as an educational / learning resource for visualization, particularly architectural visualization. A poll was submitted asking what content members of this Patreon wanted and you have decided to roundly ignore that request despite receiving investment from members for that very content. I cannot support this.

Ok so i can definitely see there's things to be learnt from doing cinematic stuff, however the short film sounds a bit odd tbh, Any idea on how many drops are going to be based around this? Also regarding models ? Theres not been many so are these going to continue and be related to archviz work or should I lower the tier? I'm fine with that, just would like some clarity. Much appreciated.

Other opinion, being from people who are funding the patreon and completed a poll.

Colorsponge's real name is Carlos Pecino...great video and gorgeous references. I've always found that project postproduced by Ashthorp f*****g awesome

I really want you to do the cinematic stuff too.;)

The title is super missleading haha, I first thought you would quit patreon

Cool. Looking forward to more of this

I voted for more interior stuff. But seeing this creative process makes me eager to see more. And totally dig the fact that you do what you love and don't let others oppinion change that!

I forgot to send you a message with a suggestion for something you could do a video about! I would really appreciate your view on stuff like composition, light direction (you mentioned once there was a guy at Ikea who was very much into that), use of colors (duo tone, tri tone) and more stuff like that. This could also apply very well to cinematic vizualization, so you'd have a bridge there! I don't have time right now to watch the whole video, so maybe you talked about this.
