Riot Games and their CEO, Nicolo Laurent, are currently facing a sexual harassment lawsuit from Laurent's former assistant - who is seeking damages for nine issues including sexual discrimination, hostile environment harassment, and failure to pay wages. The lawsuit has requested a trial by jury.
- The actual details of the allegations, if true, make for some grim reading. This is only the latest gender discrimination and sexual harassment suit to rock Riot Games - the company is currently embroiled in a class action suit lawsuit from several former employees that, following intervention from the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, could be worth over $400m.
UK Government could take action against console scalpers
Caroline Dinenage, the UK minister of state for digital and culture, has confirmed that government officials are "discussing" a proposed bill that would make console scalping illegal - this bill follows the Early Day Motion that was reported toward the end of last year.
- Douglas Chapman, the Scottish National Party MP who brought forward the bill, believes that it could ban console scalping in the same way ticket touting was banned in the UK a few years back. While Chapman is uncertain that the bill will become law, he believes that it could force the UK government to "take responsibility" for the issue. Hey, the only way is up.
Ubisoft still undecided on next-gen pricing
The subject was breached yet again during Ubisoft's most recent quarterly earnings call but, even after analysing the "competitive dynamics" of pricing last quarter, Chief Financial Officer Frédérick Duguet is unconvinced.
- Ubisoft had previously confirmed that their first wave of Xbox Series X|S and PS5 games (Assassin's Creed Valhalla and the like) would stick to last-gen pricing conventions, but wouldn't rule out a premium price hike at some stage. Looks like Ubi are going to keep us guessing a little while longer.
That 60fps Bloodborne patch is now public
Back in October, modder and YouTuber Lance McDonald showcased his own unofficial patch for Bloodborne that allowed it to run at 60fps on a PS4 - McDonald achieved this using a console modified to run homebrew software.
- This original showcase was very much a work in progress but now it's all finished, and McDonald has released the patch on his Patreon page. Anyone with a similarly modded PS4 will be able to run Bloodborne in glorious 60fps. It isn't much, but it's more than Sony are apparently willing to do with one of the best games on their platform.
