Adressing the critisism!
Added 2020-03-01 14:31:55 +0000 UTCThought it'd be easier to record an audio file than writing a whole novel about it.
Thanks for listening in, thanks for being Patrons, and above all: Thanks for sharing your honest opinions. I value it a lot. <3

Hi Johannes, I just got on your Patreon and I love what I see and I'm recomanding you to my 3d friends. Maybe you can add a patreon for studio, because I would gladely pay more if you are ok for my whole studio to listen to you. What I haven't found is a roadmap of your patreon, what will you do next. Anyway good luck :)
2020-03-26 13:13:40 +0000 UTCYou didnt expect your patreon to go that far and now you have more than 400 subscribers. Just keep doing what you are doing and in a short time you will get surpised again with more than 800 subscribers. Thanks for the audio and thanks for just being so honest about it.
2020-03-18 01:46:00 +0000 UTChey Johannes, please keep going and dont pay to much attention to the negative people/comments here .. i pulled so so so much usefull information from here, that my work, workflow and even my income is on a whole new level .. i beat my hourly rate almost every week now .. :-) and i abstract all your input to my software set which is c4d and redshift. So keep pushing here .. if you need to raise the prices, just do it .. maybe just add an extra tier ? heads up and keep pushing.. :-)

2020-03-06 09:48:00 +0000 UTCIt's tricky with tiers. I've seen quite a few creators who increased prices and had a sharp drop down in supporters. Increasing prices leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Too many tiers also confuses people. While keeping prices low makes it more accessible for more people and its easier to be "forgetful" about pledges (and since this channel is dedicated to teaching mostly, I'd assume most of us aren't on the rich end too). Archviz is niche subject and it is questionable how big of an audience this can be. I personally don't even work with fstorm and most of the time, try to reverse engineer things back into corona or simply trying to see how you look at things. Shoulda, woulda, coulda, maybies. Maybe there should be a transition period where you keep 8$+/mo where patreons can pledge more if they can afford it. Maybe try to produce more content and see how people respond, what value does it bring and how it looks on the bottom line, with traffic etc. Maybe you could review your supporters work and give an honest opinion for an extra fee. Maybe there could be a list of topics which supporters find interesting vote on and you could address it. I don't know, just throwing something out there :) Not sure how this is relevant since this channel is more on the "entertainment" side but this guy keeps 1$/month fee and has over 30 000+ subs. Jim C. Swim. Like I said if price is relatively low, people can be forgetful and keep it going for months on end. If prices are high then i can see only 1 out of 2 options. Content has to be of incredible value each month to justify it (this might also result in a lot of stress on your end trying to top whatever ideas you had on a monthly basis) or people will pay once every few months and leave. My two cents.
2020-03-03 13:16:22 +0000 UTCNow there is something, you have to know how to position yourself and organize yourself so that this works correctly, an example of this is the quality of VRay courses by Adán Martín and Corona courses by Thi Lima, linear, with start / middle / end and with updates in the the evolution of the renderer / engine. I believe that your profile is more artistic, so doing what you are doing today is good, what is missing is a schedule and a little more communication with the Patreons and open the information even in the testing phase, to exchange information and some cases can even help, I'm sure the doubts and solutions found are many here, we can help too and not just ask ... when I see an HDRI file of yours being used as "_Experimental.hdri" I think "what he's been testing "," what is he having difficulty or what is working "... understand ... I try here to help you think, if I am not aligned with what you think forgive me and I am here admiring your work as I have done in this last year .... hug!
2020-03-03 03:54:43 +0000 UTCDo something innovative JL, set the minimum of 5 dollars and the maximum without limit, people who are unable to pay will be able to pay at least 5 dollars, and people who can pay more can also contribute more, fair, innovative and I'm sure that will duplicate these Patreons! For example, I can go from 8 to 10 dollars! Hug JL!
2020-03-03 03:38:36 +0000 UTCI’d do 16!
2020-03-03 01:16:01 +0000 UTCMy opinion: - Maintain the value of Patreon (for some countries this value is consistent, so we keep subscriptions) or find another form of website / forum, etc. - Short videos monthly of FS news / Materials / Tips and Solutions found in the course of your work or of subscribers' requests / As you already do. - Record some work being done / As you already do. - Provide some small discount for Patreons on the 3D libraries you sell. - You have a lot of ready content that people would like to see, like the creation of the BMW Studio, and so many others ... - Regarding criticism, we all have to maintain respect here! PS .: I believe I am on the right track, when I started signing you dye less than 100 Patreons and a year later we are already 400, in my opinion it is working! Hug and thanks JL!
2020-03-02 14:33:00 +0000 UTCYou should register when you work for clients, as you have already done, it replaces the tutorials. it allows you to earn twice money for the same job. :)
2020-03-02 08:31:02 +0000 UTChi johannes, i think your doing great things here! we are all learning a lot and every single post to patreon is worth more than the 8$... even lot more than the 16$!!! i love the audio-files! my suggestion is do not shutting down the client work, even sometimes it is a nightmare. but that keeps you up and near to the industry. one thing that i would loveto see, is your scanning equipment! that would be great!. thanks for so much!
2020-03-02 08:30:00 +0000 UTCMen, if 16$ prove itself to be worth it I won't have any problem supporting you every month, but you need to be absolutely sure that you can meet the expectations of patrons, because not increasing the content would cause outrage for sure, and if you lose around half of the subscribers we would be back at square one... Even a free model when you don't have time for anything else would be great, I'm sure that you have lots of those lying around, and I would love to have more fstorm models that don't need tweaking. :D
2020-03-01 19:55:45 +0000 UTCYou and II/Daniel are without a shadow of a doubt one of, if not the best in the business, and for your patreon I honestly agree with whoever your quoted earlier: Your patreon provides invaluable but also unrivaled content. If upping your pledge meant a lot more content, I would change pledge tier immediately. I work for a very large engineering firm that has close to zero interest in interior visualizations, so I have to spend my free time create and evolve as a 3d artist. You've helped me a huge amount because of this channel. Finding quality tutorials and resources for both FStorm and workflow / material creation / process and style is hard, and you hit the nail on the head for pretty much everything.

2020-03-01 18:39:39 +0000 UTCJohannes, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and what's going on. Most of us (hopefully) would agree that you should take care of yourself first - your well being and health. Hitting the proverbial wall can be absolutely devastating, so preventing that should be first priority. To me, your pledge amount could be $40 if it meant you worked full time on content here. $8 is a great price too, but if it meant you could do patreon full time or close to full time, it would easily be worth the increased price.

2020-03-01 18:39:35 +0000 UTCHonestly Johannes, I think most of your Patrons get it, because we're in the same boat. A lot of people look to patreon for end to end solutions, where it's actually more often than not, a place to gain a bit more insight into the special things. Don't be hard on yourself, you can take Patreon on your own pace, that's what it's for. There will always be a few people who come and go home unsatisfied, because their needs don't perfectly align with what you have capacity for or what your current goals are, but that's OK too.

2020-03-01 18:21:13 +0000 UTCdon't think so much about the price. people pay 100 dollars for boobs, that you can see for free everywhere. and your content is unique that you can't get everywhere. i follow you since youre first live-stream and I learned so much from you in this time. I would be happy with more content and i have no problem paying more for it :)

2020-03-01 17:16:16 +0000 UTCI feel it would be a bit harsh to criticise based on the price that you charge for patreon. I also appreciate how hard it must be to balance your time between client work and patreon work whilst also having a family. There simply are not enough hours in a day! Hopefully you can figure out something that works for you and gets you to where you want to be and then we can all benefit in the long run.
2020-03-01 15:29:11 +0000 UTCthank you for being so honest and frontal about everything, I just hope you remember those who have been with you from the beginning when tier-ing the content.
