Beige Traditional Timelapse
Added 2020-02-28 06:01:00 +0000 UTC
Hey guys. As said, here's a timelapse of the beige traditional scene. I know many of you wanted it to be real time but I had to cut away a lot of sensitive things like folder names etc, so if I were to upload it in real time I'd have to watch and edit 5 hours of video.
HOWEVER, if there are anything you wonder how it was made or if you want me to do additional videos that in real time explaines certain processes of this project, I'm more than happy to do so!
He has gone through the process in one of the Scandinavian Interior videos before

I would like to request a video for the throw that's on the leather chair, as seen on your current Patreon page image, it looks amazing with the light falling on it and the SSS effect!

Hi Lasse.
So happy, and surprised, to see you here. :-)
Thank yo so much for the kind words, I'm happy that even an established guy like you can find my Patreon page valuable, had not expected that!
And yeah, the golden "No" that is so hard to reach, it's easy to teach it, harder to live by your own rules. :)

would you like post playlist?

Hi Johannes,
just became a Patreon yesterday finally bc of the beige room and me being interessted too much how the scene is lit.. because it is lit :D
as a new member i browsed all the content and must say: hats off
really great!
i am kinda diving into the fstorm thing for some projects, even though my setup is all threadripper but tbh the idea of being able to laptop myself through the world is quite intriguing.
keep up the good work and: i am with you in learning to "no".
it is not easy but worth it. otoh: saying yes is also good. and we wouldnt be service men if we werent yes-men.
balance it! brute force to you!

Great placement David, sincere, genuine questioning, with education and respect! JL great to read your answer, get organized, make goals, because it already has great content like "BMW Studio" "Postmodern Kitchen" ... everything will be fine, as we will continue to support you!

Hi David,
Thank you for asking the right questions and for sharing your honest opinion. You are completely right in everything you write and this actually made me record a little audio log that I'm uploading now, explaining the situation.
To answer your question, I'm right now recording the BMW in studio series, after that I'm breaking down the "postmodern kitchen" people were asking about, and in between it all I'm getting ready to start recording several photogrammetry videos. Also if someone wants me to break down parts of the timelapse into detailed videos explaining certain processes, I'm trying to make room for that too.
Generally, my goals are, and have always been, to be able to say not to client work as I truly want to focus on Patreon and the quality of the content (and certainly not doing a "Grant Warwick" on you guys). And since I actually feel that may actually be getting closer to burning myself out because of client pressure the past two months, I'm realizing more than ever that I need to start saying no!

I get that. Concider it a bonus. Wasn't meant to be a tutorial.
2020-03-01 11:04:50 +0000 UTC
I would be happy to but since it wasn't really meant to be a tutorial at all, I didn't pay attention to close/hide client related stuff. Therefore if I would post the 5 hour video, I'd have to watch every second of it myself to make sure there's nothing sensitive shown.
However, again, I am more than happy to re-record bits of it that you think is interesting to go deeper into, with speach. Just let me know if there are any specific parts you want me to cover. The throw on the armchair is already planned.
As of rigs, you really can't go wrong. My workstation is covered in a video already, the laptop + eGPU. my rendering nodes are just simple, actually pretty old i7-builds with a mix of 2080ti's and 1080ti's. To be honest my rendering nodes are pretty outdated by now. :/
But I'm more than happy to go deeper into it if you just tell me what you want to know :-)

Hey!
It shouldn't but if you have render materials "on" in the material editor, every time you open a new max or a new library it'll render all the small shader balls. If you're using heavy texures for them, like in my case, texture supply 30k textures, it'll take forever to render them and max will freeze in the meantime.
So I tend to turn off the preview rendering, and everything is fine :)

Hey man, nice video, Wanted to ask you what are the plans for the upcoming videos, I have seen during almost the last 3-4 months (even much longer) that there is not so good content as we were used to,I am telling you since I have been supporting you almost for the very first beginning and we were even less people supporting this channel and we had way better quality content, Now when the community supporting you is bigger we should have more content, Thanks

I get it and I appreciate your opinion, I always want people to be honest and I can certainly take critic if it has substance.
As of this video, one just have to ask about what they want me to break down from that and I'll record it, with speach. As none of this time-lapse was recorded with sound. For example I have already though it record the throw workflow separately since it was not recorded here.

Come on.. as if Johannes would only post timelapses..
2020-02-29 16:58:30 +0000 UTC
5h work compressed in 26min tutorial plus cut parts, its a blasfemy call it timelapse. this is just useless. 90 dollars per year, i expect way better content than a timelapse. thanks.

Hi Johannes, I have a question since your material preset video. Do you think that having several materials in presets slows down the time of open/close 3ds max and material editor or it hasn't got any impact at all? Thank you

ah ok, it doesn't work in a secure browser, works fine in Chrome
