Question
Added 2019-08-04 12:05:15 +0000 UTCToday I’m doing the 3rd re-recording of the connecter video. I just haven’t felt happy with it since I want to give a pretty much complete rundown of connecter but quite frankly I don’t use all of the features myself, so it’s hard to cover things I’m not very familiar with. However I’ve strucutured it up better now and I hope it can be useful for some of you.
Also there will be a model giveaway from DesignConnected, as well as a 20% coupon code, sponsored by the great team behind Connecter. I’m hoping to upload this tonight, or tomorrow (haven’t got the coupon code yet). That model that is given away to you all for free, I’ll use to make a small project I’ve planned. I want that project to also involve some texture scanning, just have to fix some things with my “rig”.
Now a question for you.
I know some people have asked me to do “reviews” of their images here on Patreon. Before I haven’t really wanted to do that, partly because of my Swedish modesty making it hard to comment on other peoples work as I know that I may not always be right. But mostly because it’s hard to just telling someone how they could improve on something, without having seen anything of the scene or how it’s set up. Also, I know everyone works differently and my workflows may not apply well on other artists.
So I have a similar idea I’d be willing to try if you’re interested. Basically if any one of you would send me a scene you’d want me to review, and I could record when I open it up, trying to understand how it’s made and then do my own thing with it. Not necessarily trying to improve your work, but rather similar to if I’d get a scene from a client that I would set up.
If you’d be interested in it, we’d do it like this:
- The scenes could be provided to me completely anonymous if you wish.
- It doesn’t matter what renderer you use, but I would convert it to FStorm.
- Scene must be saved for 3DsMax 2016.
- You must have no problem with me sharing that recording with everyone on my Patreon.
- You are responsible for making sure that no scene you send me is under an NDA or in any way sensitive for public display.
- I would not send the scene back, since it’s not meant to be a service where I make your images, but you’d be able to do the same thing following the videos if you would like.
- Once I’m done, I’ll delete the whole scene and all it’s files (on recording). I would not save any models or assets from the scenes. Any renders I make from it, I would post in 1200px resolution on Patreon only, then delete them. This way it doesn’t really matter if the scene contains copyrighted/bought models, since everything would be permanently deleted (on recording).
Of you would be interested in this, I could give you a dropbox link to which you could upload an archived scene package or if you’d want to upload it somewhere else where I can reach it.
Let me know what you think about this idea. If it’s something you’d be interested in seeing and doing.
