Status!

Hey guys, about time to show some life signs. Til now, I've been really busy, have a deadline that literally forces me to perform miracles. However that is due today and after today I can relax a bit and come back my usual "living habits" including giving all my Patrons the attention they need.  Sometimes when it gets quiet from me for a while, I will compensate by making upload more stuff in a "chunk" to catch up. If I get quiet, please don't feel like I've abandoned you because I certainly will NOT!

This week I'm aiming to release 4 videos both covering materials and the project. Along with that, as people has suggested, I will share the materials from the videos. I also have a few new models that I will share.

Along with Patreon, work, and family, I'm also shaping some plans for the future. Needless to say, I have a lot to think about. More info about that later.

To keep you exicted for new stuff and keep hanging here on Patreon with me, I'm sharing a WIP image with you guys. This is not a project I will record, share or anything, but I figured that I can show some goodies from it once it's done.

octane is not dead ;) Some tut with it will be welcome

Camera settings are totally irrelevant. Kernel settings is basically default but I've increased light samples go bounce light a bit more and max depth to avoild glass on the shelf becoming black :-)

haha thanks :)

Hey! HDRI is the only source and it's gamma 2.2 as standard . To get rid of the overexposure I use negative burn value in render settings :-)

I really would like that, however that's reeeeaaally time consuming :/

Hi! I have some little request :). Could you make a markers-links of main aspects in your video (i.e. modelling this or that, material of this or that, setting up lights etc ) that could be move playing to the selected part of your tutorial ? Some kind of Table of Contents of your tutorial video. Thanks that we could be able to find very fast interesting part of tutorial and we know what specific video is about. I.e. I have to find glass material know how and I could click link to play that part of video. What do you think ?

Hi! Tell me pls, have you any other lights in this scene to lit it? Or you use gamma correction for the hdr to make this interior with one small window very white and bright. I haven't see any overbright areas on your image, i try to do it, but i have overexposed room

You are my idol!

Be good to know your camera and kernel settings and the HDRI used for this image Johannes.

Sadly there's no way to convert except doing it manually which is a really tough task. I did work with vray between 2004-2014 but the thing is that I never got the nice results that I get from GPU renderers. Not that V-Ray can't do it because it certainly can, I just never got there. However, today I've learned so much more and if I gave it a really good try, maybe I would make it. For now I can't guarantee it though but it's definitely worth a shot.

Great Iohannes! everyone is looking forward to your next tutorials. btw I was curios if there is any way to convert from f-storm to vray? for now I'm just watching teqniques and understandings of principles of your work, but any chance from time to time to release some vray versions of your work? 10x

Beautiful.
