I've watched almost every episode on youtube and have never heard you repeat a story (well unintentionally, not like the coconut story lol) but I swear you've told the cake story before. 2024-10-29 14:10:10 +0000 UTCMaybe it’s how I was raised, but if I was in a wedding and they told me I got to get a used bridesmaid dress to A) save the bride some money and B) be a bit more sustainable, I’d be bragging to all the other bridesmaids about how cool and special it was that I got to give new life to that dress and that it was miraculously IN MY PERFECT SIZE! I know the situation is more nuanced because it’s her stepmom, but I think a good compromise would be to suggest that either she could have the new dress (bride pays for it) or she could choose the used dress and then the bride could take the saved $150 and use it to do something special together (a mom/daughter outing/spa day/adventure together) with Kiki. I don’t think that asking a child to pay the difference on the new dress is fair, so for that she’s being a bit of an AH. I just think this could be a good chance to teach Kiki about sustainability and the importance of saving money when you can and not seeing recycling clothes as a punishment AND using the money on quality time instead of a one-time dress.

2024-07-12 02:42:51 +0000 UTCAbout the dress story, Facebook marketplace’s algorithm does show things that you researched in different websites, sometimes even things you spoke about near your phone, so the stepdaughter could have shared a link for the dress w the mom and then it popped on Facebook, not saying it was def the case but the FBI team on Facebook works scarily well.

Making a point to tell her it’s used is where I feel it becomes more like she’s targeting the step daughter. And if the fiance says to buy it new then do it, or if they don’t share finances he should buy it himself…

I think she found the dress on eBay or one of those sell your clothes sites. She needs to either find everyone's dresses on eBay, Facebook marketplace, Poshmark or buy the new dress. I know it's a dress just for one day but it does seem weird and targeted for just the soon to be step-daughter's dress to be used while her daughters and members of the bridal party's are new. Why can't the fiancé buy the dress? The fact that she even told her that it was used was weird, just lie.
