Exclusive Paralives Music Demo and Making Of

Hey everyone!

Andrei here from Paralives Studio reporting for duty to do my very 1st patreon post! 😁 I’m here to show you all a music demo I made for Paralives and my creation process! This exclusive preview is for Patrons only so please don’t share! And by the way, yes, this is only a sketch and it is not confirmed to be in the final version of the game (Ha!) We still have a long way to go before that happens! We are now in the brainstorming phase of the music so this track was purely made to explore and try to find our musical direction (I’m basically the one in charge of that as well as the direction of all sound effects). So without further ado, here is the musical creation of a song I called “Intertwined” (listen to it in the above video).

Finding references

Story time! Not long after I joined the team, I started doing a bunch of short 40-second demos to brainstorm as many musical approaches as possible for the game. I was doing all sorts of crazy stuff that I had never explored before. In the meantime, I was listening to a BUNCH of different artists to get some inspiration going in my system. 🎧 I was checking stuff like the album Human by Dodie, Hablame de Ti by Josean Log, Musica de fondo by Zoe and Ruins by First Aid Kit. All of those albums really influenced the making of Intertwined.

Feeling inspired (the demo)

I had just gotten my hands on some new sounds I bought from Native Instruments (a music production equipment developer) when I started doing the 3rd music demo for the team. I actually didn’t have the intention to do the 3rd demo (whoops) 👀 I was just goofing around with the new sounds and having fun! I tweaked, edited, layered, erased and explored all these new sounds I had never used before.

So, I took a break for the day when I went out to visit my parents. They were listening to a song called Ultimos dias from the Zoé album which featured a banjo. And that’s when it hit me: A BANJO!!! I was so struck by the revelation that I immediately went back to my little home studio to test this new idea. I added the banjo that you hear at 0:17 and layered it. I was super happy with the result. Right after that I felt that something was missing by the end. Like a very lyrical melody to make it the theme. So I tried a bunch of stuff until I ended up putting the synth theme that plays at 0:25 and would influence the rest of the track.

Feeling stuck (the sketch)

As the team decided to feature Intertwined in a Patreon post, I needed to work more on it and add a second part. However, I had no idea what to do. I had a vague vision of maybe switching dramatically to an orchestral section, but it didn’t work very well… So I erased the whole 2nd part and started from zero again. Then, I ended up making something that still had too much going on at the same time and was too abrupt.. But I still wasn’t aware of that yet (foreshadowing!) and left it in the demo…😪

Turning critique into improvement (the corrections)

Right after finishing I was feeling confident it worked and sent it to the team to make corrections! And to my surprise there was quite a lot of stuff that needed some change 😅 The bridge was too abrupt (Ha!), the cello and violins felt out of place. I took the critique as motivation and went on for round 2!

So to keep it short, I replaced the strings (0:25) with the synth in Home (the song in the chalet video). I also completely changed the bridge section (0:48) for something more rhythmic and that made sense with the rest of the song. It took a lot of feedback and corrections to turn the track into what it is now. I went on changing things and editing/mixing them (by the way, mixing is the music production stage of balancing out all the sounds in a track so that it sounds as clear and good as possible) until at one point I stopped… I heard it one more time and there was nothing else I wanted to change. So I sent it... and they liked it!

Here are some screenshots I took of the progress of my Logic Pro X project (Logic is the MacOS software I use to create music):

By the way, if those images don't tell you anything, the little rectangles contain music notes. These rectangles called regions are in horizontal music tracks that are basically different instruments! 😮

Screenshot 1: The initial idea. There’s very few instruments and it's very short in length. You can see the fundamental instruments of the song like the banjo and the synths

Screenshot 2: The expanded idea. There are many more instruments and the song has tripled in length. The brown, blue and red regions are orchestral instruments while the green and yellow ones are all just non-organized random instruments like synths, drums, bass, effects.

Screenshot 3: The corrected version! I organized it in the following order: Percussion & bass (yellow), Transition sound effects (purple), Keyboards and Synth pads (green), synths that play the melody (pink), banjos and anything that supports them (orange), orchestral instruments (red and blue).

But wait, there’s more! (the alternative)

By the way, you may be asking yourself right now “Ok cool story! But what about the other version that played after the first one?” Well that is the acoustic version of Intertwined that I did this week! I made it to show you guys that all these songs that we are making for the game are flexible enough to have different versions for different game contexts! Nothing about this is confirmed at all but I thought it would be a cool feature to show you guys for this post! This version features only an acoustic guitar, a cajon, a shaker and a string quartet 🎻 A little screenshot of the project:

Final tweaks and conclusion

So there you have it! That was the creation of Intertwined 🎉 I was super happy that the hard work paid off and I didn’t realize that the song was getting better and better every time someone gave feedback about it. It was awesome! It took a bit longer than expected to finish but it was honestly worth all the effort. Especially doing the crazy stuff like blowing into a mic and adding reverberation to make transition sounds between sections, playing the cajon or imitating a shaker with a bunch of condiments I found in the kitchen (didn’t work so well but it was fun tho!).

To conclude, I did some last little changes like editing and mixing to finally be the track you listened to in this Patreon post! Midway through the production, I knew that this could be a potential Title Menu song or as Anna suggested, a song for when you're creating your Parafolk family? Let us know what you think about it, where would you see it fit, and if any of you guys have any questions, I’d be more than happy to answer them! Hope you guys enjoyed this post and have a really awesome weekend everybody!! ✌🎶

Comments

I agree with other people that the acoustic version is better overall, but I like the style of the original version better!

Rodrigo Escribano

The music that's been shared with us so far has been so on point! Between the art style and the music, you and the team have created such a cozy vibe that will no doubt have me playing for hours.

Xo.Noe

So amazing 🥰

Heaven Moore

I am a bit late but I really like the general chill vibe which is coming out of these musics, like cozy chill and sweet style

Nina Akalay

I really like the acoustic version of intertwined!

Loftie F

Intertwined is such a good song! You could put it over any of the videos and it wouldn't feel out of place at all, especially the acoustic version. Keep it up :D

NikoDelux

I really like this, I was hoping it would be at least a little similar in vibe to older sims and it is literally perfect. I love Dodie, Josean Log, and Zoe! They're all great musical inspirations!

fairlyBread

I keep coming back to this! Love the song! I think both versions are amazing! Hope they will be in the game!

BekkiRoss

I LOVE the acoustic! Great job!

LifeofDolly

Great job !

Céline

this. is. perfect.

Kaitlyn Jackson

The acoustic version is my favorite! but both version was great :)

Aayov

I think the it sounds SO PERFECT as a title screen song and the acoustic version would be great as a para maker song, it’s making me weirdly nostalgic for a game that’s not even out yet

Austeja Dunno

I still come back to this. I love it 😊

Heaven Moore

I loved the acoustic version, it was awesome

Felipe Garbagnati

Absolutely love!!

Kyriana Foster

Because it sounds like the Sims 2 music

Estelle

It's good but I think it's way too similar to the Sims' current music(reminds me a lot of Sims 2 actually) - which I'm not a big fan of tbh. It's ok. I loved the jazzy sophisticated music in the Sims 1, it was cooler and gave the game a very interesting twist. This is a demo so I have faith in the music become better with the process. The soundtrack of a game is very important for me, so I hope this evolves into something better :)

Estelle

I really love the stringed stuff that starts around the three minute mark, combining both long, soaring, almost-keening notes with some bright plucking. For me, one of the things about playing The Sims is the background music. I drop in and the music starts and I'm 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦. I've always put a 𝘭𝘰𝘵 of value on its soundtrack, and I was worried Paralives would end up with something mediocre or weirdly-themed that I wouldn't build an emotional bond with, but I'm feeling pretty confident now that you've given us a sample. Keep doing what you're doing, it sounds 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵.

Felice Enellen

the strings on the acoustic version omg got me so hype

Alina Gold

This is so fascinating and impressive!! It's so rewarding to see this game come to life ;ooo

Alina Gold

Aaaah, I'm in love with the acoustic version!! 😍😍😍 (Much better than the first one, tbh 😅) I could totally picture the Title Screen with it as its background music!!

Stefanía Torrealba D

Omg, the acoustic version is soooooooo much better ❤️❤️❤️ I am in love! So inspiring and dreamy! Please, do not do the synthetic one :((

Masha

I am in love with the music

Charlie Wicca

I could totally see this in the Create a Para or just general backround music (or even on ParaRadio?) Keep up the great work guys!!

queentowwy

Am I hearing some nods to the housebuilding video track? (Btw my favorite one and I would LOVE to have it in the final game or some version of it)

Maxx

I love the music. I can already imagine playing the game and hearing this music. It’s upbeat, but still mellow.

BooDotBoo .

The acoustic version is really cool!

Jessica Tourtellotte

Hello! It is great that you have access to real instruments in the accoustic version and I especially liked that you used a cajon instead of drums to complement the cello and the violin. It is a far better direction than the electronic version. As a fellow composer and sound engineer, I believe that even an untrained ear that cannot understand why it sounds generic, they still find it so. If I were you, I'd avoid going down that road. Especially since you have access to natural instruments. You can create something with 2 natural instruments that is way more intimate and appreciated. I hope this helps! Great work on the game overall.

Jinnie Inabottle

I keep coming back to listen to this song 🙈🤩 I think the first one is my favorite, but I love both! Really like the direction this is going 😁

BekkiRoss

Lorena this is so crazy.. I just had that same idea this week and noted it down on a document! 🤯 I agree it would be so cool to have the Paras performance merge with the background music! It would also have a lot of downsides to consider and we also aren't sure if we are gonna have music in the live mode (doing a lot of brainstorm and research on that). I'm really happy you guys all liked the music and have a lot of super good ideas for it too. Hello from Montreal too 😃

Andrei Castanon

I love this!!! I had a suggestion. I recently played Nier: Replicant, and there is a part where you're in a village and you have music playing, but when you get close to one character playing her guitar, the vocals of the song add in (it becomes instrumental again if you get far from her). I was thinking it would be cool to have this kind of transition if maybe our para is in the house (instrumental) vs. when they go out of the house to explore (more instruments). And right when they exit the front door, the music automatically switches to that. Idk if it's feasible, but food for thought. Hello from Montreal btw :)

Lorena Naiden

Fantastic!!!! I like both honestly and won’t be mad which ever one you choose. Fantastic!!!

Andrea Owens

love it.

Kristen

At first I preferred the acoustic version, now I really love the first one! Both are really great!

Cosmic Dancer

I love how this sounds! So calming yet fun, it has exactly the right vibes for a game like this!

Kayleigh

This song is everything I ever imagined for this game, I hope that even if it doesn’t make it to the final game that there’s something in the settings where we could still listen to it like how in the Sims 3 and 4 there’s a place for the music

Gabbie

I think one should play during the daytime and one at nighttime! They’re both very nice

Cali Ann Y.

It’s so light and upbeat!!! Very nice music :D

Cali Ann Y.

I love them both, but there's something about the acoustic version that feels more homey, more nostalgic, more real somehow? I really like the direction with the acoustic.

Maddie G

Love the music! You could consider day and night time versions. Basically the same track but the night time version being slower, more dream like and chill, maybe more melancholic at time and the day version is happier, busier and more upbeat in general

Kayne

Ha! I got it: the first tune makes me think of the Loki TV series theme and the second reminds me of Bridgerton.

JessIsMore

I really love the banjo and synth as the signature sound. It's both familiar and unique, nostalgic and futuristic. If you go with that, you'll have a sound no one else has.

JessIsMore

Thank you Andrei that was definitely very helpful! I’ll check that person out on YouTube to learn more. and I’ll see about making a website when I’m ready to share my music. If I had been ready I would’ve showed Alex more haha I only had like one snippet of something I had which sounded pretty cool for a build mode like he said. which was nice to hear him say that. I know that I have the talent for music I have a good ear for it I just need to find a way to learn more. I did find a school I want to go to but I’m not sure if it’s real or not it’s in New York and it’s called Recording Connection. If you find out anything about it please let me know I did contact them but I haven’t heard from them again. At that time when they called me I was on vacation and was too busy to pick up. But anyways I was kinda hoping maybe we can connect on LinkedIn? I did already send you an invite. It’d be really nice to have some one i can talk to about music on our free time ☺️

Xavier Zayas

beautiful!

Enes

1:52 through to the end of the first demo sounded so nice!! I actually like both versions of the track, as I believe both could be used at different points for different things. Like the acoustic version sounds like a build/buy mode kind of track if that makes sense. It's good work so far!

Courtney

This is awesome!!!!!!!!!

Iris Duan

très sympa !

Ludivine

why am I nostalgic? this is awesome! great Job, thanks for sharing

Genelle Mosquera

This is awesome!!! I can definitely see the first version in the paramaker part! And I think the second version would be really good for build mode! :) It sounds great!

IdrilPuck

A love both! The first one is like my everyday jam and the second one is like my chill quiet jam, I love classical and I love electronic type music but it still reminds me of the sims in a good way, and I can absolutely see myself enjoying this music over and over while I play, I can see it in creating paralives, building and gameplay it's just perfect!

QueenWarrior4

I love it I can totally imagine myself hearing this while playing paralives or even in the tutorial (or much better ALPHA!)

Sharmaine Arguilles

As soon as I heard the acoustic version I smiled. Something about it made me feel happy, peaceful, and oddly nostalgic? Technically it sounds cleaner compared to the first. I still love the vibe. Great work!!

Mikayla Morey

i seriously vibe with the acoustic version. maybe the whole game soundtrack should be acoustic!

paleio

I love the acoustic version, sounds cleaner. Thanks for the details, long ago I was a music major.

Tecolata

Idk what to say, just my opinion about first half, i didnt like the chords there at all, rally unfitting for me, but later on the same music it gets better immersion, the acoustic version though... WHAT AN AWSOME TUNE, very very great! But the first one imo should maybe be reworked from start, I found it way too repetitive, and Predictable maybe, though the version are very similar, that's what I felt. good job, I know neither are fully done and are just a Sketch, but wanted to give my all out anyway.

Hoff Fondue

Wow, chills!! Incredible work, Andrei. I love both versions. Upbeat but chill, with, as someone else said, some more somber notes as well that just help ground everything. I can't wait to hear more of the game's soundtrack in the future--Paralives is going to sound amazing.

SaraZ

Why did this make a tear fall? Awesome job, it's perfect

Alex Agustin

I love acoustic version SOOOOOOOO MUCH *o* Both melodies are beautiful. But the acoustic one is mesmerizing! Good job, Andrei! I would love to have this song not only as Title Menu/Paramaker background sound, but maybe to be able to let my Para to listen to it via stereo system, too!

Hamster Tam

I love the accoustic version a lot more ans yess there goes logic pro, i'm an ableton user but i've heard a lot of good things from logic users ! I think the strings that are more high should be very discreet but thats something to take care of in the final mix - congrats

sofst

Oh, this music reminds me of the Sims 2 loading screen, when all the packs are being loaded. Such nostalgia.

Sachi Nero

Wow, I actually love it Alex! I think you honestly nailed it ;)

TnT_Terry

I love it, definitely think it would be perfect for when we make our parafolks!!

Lotti

the acoustic version sounds so good <3

Danica Savic

It’s so beautiful! I love the song so much! I could see it as a house choosing section, when you’ve made a family and you’re trying to pick which house to set them up in.

Taylor Riegle

Ayy Andrei! Electronic music composer here, i really appreciate you sharing your creative process with us and especially what software you're using (big nerd me really likes that so here's a heart of support for you 💞) As someone who spends hours upon hours creating characters i have to agree with Anna! The acoustic version really fits the creating aspect of the game a bit better, it has a soothing quality that doesn't distract you too much from what you're doing but it's forward enough to keep you company while you work - the og version might be a bit busy in terms of ensamble, it might work really well for some opening/menus/loading screens tho! If i can be a bit nitpicky i'm not particularly a fan of the percussion samples you used, they sound a bit flat in comparison to the rest (maybe add a little more reverb? it's your choice!) Can't wait for the sound designing of the menu! Anyway, the work you've put out is fantastic and really fits with the aesthetic of the game, can't wait to hear from you more! A bit of an annoying question on my end: mind if i ask you what's your home studio like? what sound card are you using etc etc?

Lau

love it so relaxing and fresh

Haley Tilton

I love this, I'm already feeling nostalgic and the game's not even done yet 🥺

Wendigogo

Very beautiful music :)

KittyPara

This sounds incredible!! I especially love the acoustic version! I could imagine the acoustic version fitting well into build mode, whilst the normal version for Paramaker (like Anna suggested!)

Clowo

Love it! 😍 Are you gonna share this with the public eventually? Would love to see reactions of people listening to this on youtube 🙈

BekkiRoss

This is an absolutely gorgeous composition!! Can’t wait for the rest!!

Hannah

Excellent vibes

Alkisim

brilliant work!

Giuseppe Sammatrice

Firstly, I love Dodie and First Aid Kit. Secondly, if this is a taste of what the music will be like in the game I am SOO excited. I would love for this to be in the game, it would make perfect menu music or create a para music. Maybe more towards create a para cause we'll spend more time in it hahah. Great work so far on the music Andrei :)

SmirkyBoot

I can already tell that Paralives is going to have an amazing soundtrack!

Christina Renna

I really love this music! It's soothing and calming and it would work so well in the background of the game!! However, I do hope that the main theme will be something a bit 'shorter' if you will, like the other game has a simple and goofy tune that you can hum along to

Brandon-Lee Ensing

YEEESSS!! One that would fit the vibe of that world/town

Brandon-Lee Ensing

I loved BOTH versions!! I can feel version one in Paramaker and version 2 in Build mode, as I try to build/create homes. lol I am totally not a builder, but I believe I'll be able to do wonders in Paralives. lol Wow, it's already a memorable melody! I was dancing to both versions, and bopping my head. They both give feel good vibes! It's light, warm, makes you smile as you look at and experience this gorgeous graphic style of the game. I feel as if your music is going to really immerse me into the whole storytelling and creativity of the game. I'm looking forward to being inspired. I really am in awe of your talent. The Chalet video music ... *chef's kiss* I'm glad they hired you.

greeneyedsims

Hey Ladyteruki! I really appreciate that you took the time to do such a complete feedback! Thanks so much 🙂 I'm really glad you liked the music from this post and from the chalet video too! I just checked the soundtrack you sent me from Remember Me and it's so good!! The combination of electronic music and orchestral is so well done I'm gonna have to listen to more of it! I agree I'd like to see more of Solo Strings in video game music too. One soundtrack that does this and really struck me was Bioshock Infinite. I'm glad you liked the banjo! I think its metallic tone is cause its a virtual banjo inside Logic Pro haha 😄 I'd be more than glad to make another post talking about the sound effects and how I get to design them (we'll see in the future). I'm really glad you liked the music and don't worry I understood everything that you said 😀

Andrei Castanon

Definitely a song for character creation! A neat easter egg might be having a musician para "make" a version of this to play themselves.

Gabby

OMG I already can see myself vibing as the game loads I LOVE ITTTT

Natan Peixoto

Xavier I totally get that honestly. It's a struggle at first to find projects, compete with what's out there and finding motivation when on your own. If what you want is to do media music (videogames, films) and you want any advice, using Logic and checking YouTube tutorials from MusicTechHelpGuy is a good way to start. Going to music school also helps (in this domain specifically) and getting into mixing too. And once you feel you're kinda ready (I never feel 100% ready haha) you can do a website with your portfolio so you can send it to people with projects you're interested in. I hope that helps somehow and if you have any other questions, you can always ask me and many other composers for advice 🙂 I'm sure you're gonna find what you are looking for!

Andrei Castanon

it sounds INCREDIBLE. i can already see myself playing this game for hours and jamming out the entire time. seriously, amazing work.

Katie Fordyce

i love it!!

Taylor Austin

I really liked the music in the chalet video, so I've been so excited to hear more. I think Anna is on to something with making this the Paramaker music. More variation and energy is good when you're just getting into game, whereas its nice if build music can blend into the background a little. Though I really liked them both, I actually think I preferred the acoustic version? The normal version was a little busy at times because of all the sound effects.

Samantha Shaw

Thanks Daniel!

Andrei Castanon

Awesome! I'm gonna check that soundtrack then. Thanks for that Ashley!

Andrei Castanon

Thank you so much eM! That's exactly what I was envisioning when doing the original version!!! 😀

Andrei Castanon

Good point Jezebeth 😄 Thanks so much and yeah I think the build mode would be a good choice for it

Andrei Castanon

Hahaha good point owl 😅 Thanks for liking both ❤ I'm gonna try to find a place for both in the game :)

Andrei Castanon

Thanks so much for that Eszter! Yeah I agree it feels good to have different vibes sometimes during gameplay. Really happy you liked it :)

Andrei Castanon

Katie I looove the Stardew Valley music. Thanks so much!

Andrei Castanon

Thanks so much Mauro! I'm really glad you think it blends well

Andrei Castanon

Thanks Alexis! :)

Andrei Castanon

I'd also love to see them alternate depending on the scenario 😀 Thanks so much Mariette!

Andrei Castanon

Thanks for the feedback Nicole! We'll keep it in mind 🙂

Andrei Castanon

Thanks kesionna! Paramaker is a good choice 👌 We'll keep it in mind

Andrei Castanon

Good point Michael. We'll keep that in mind for the future 👍Thanks!

Andrei Castanon

Thanks Malaiyah! I'm really glad it made you feel that

Andrei Castanon

Thank you so much Aww 😁 That really means a lot

Andrei Castanon

Thanks so much Jeremy! We'll keep that in mind :)

Andrei Castanon

Awesome! I think so too 😀 Thanks so much Codi

Andrei Castanon

Omg! I love it!!!

Dominika Johanidesova

It is an excellent piece, and it would be a good fit for both a trailer and in-game. Well-deserved praise!

Vera Ohlsen

Love it! Calm and somehow energetic at the same time

Thea

I love this! It's definitely something I'd enjoy listening to while making a para or building

Jay

I didn't really like the music, but I also sound sensitive, so in general, I don't like new music. so definitely not the right person to ask for opinions on music.

Josefine Andersen

The first thing I thought was that this would make a good maker or builder background music. I liked the second version more, but it's just a personal preference

Bea

My favorite is the second one :) I know nothing about music but I feel like the second one is more "blended in" as music usually sounds like for me. The first one is good too, but I can tell apart the different sounds, which I find distracting. Idk if that makes any sense but that's my two cents. I could see them both in the game for different uses though.

Marie Daoust

I wonder if someone could import that music into No mans sky?? It looks like the same thing that no man sky uses for custom music, as far as the notes go..

John Bergstrom

Absolutely love this! Can't wait to play the game with this music!

Katie Arnold

This is giving me sims 2 vibes, and I LOVE IT!!! <3

Lisbeth Kirkhorn Melsåsen

what if each town/world has it's own intro music? that'd be awesome!

S&M Gonzalez

Love it! Very soothing. I can imagine playing the game with this in the background.

Jacqueline

Great job! I love it! I was dancing the whole time. I agree with others it makes you feel like getting up and moving.

Tannes Johnson

It sounds good! It makes me feel like I should be doing something like creating a para or building or decorating a house lol. It really makes me want to play the game lol.

Kymberlee86

I love this it’s so good.

Twilightbutterflypink

Yes Human by dodie 💕💕💕 makes me want to play this game even more that you were inspired by her. Ready Now is also a beautiful song. Kina Grannis also has beautiful songs I think you would be inspired by!

SouJee Han

OMG! I looooooooveeeee <3

pekeniax

This sounds so good!! I could definitely see this in the game. High key, I hope it doesn’t change 🥰✌🏻

Heaven Moore

Video game music has to be one of my favorites. I'm really looking forward to everything you have in store! No doubt the talent you hold is going to shine within the music you masterfully create.

Mari

I really like the first one for like PAM and build/buy mode it gives a nice background sound, the second one I could see for a loading screen or introduction to a town

S&M Gonzalez

I've gotta be honest, I usually mute the game music (in any game) and listen to a stream vod or my own music. I find it gets grating and repetitive after an hour or so. So, feel free to ignore anything I say, but I really like this! I think I preferred the acoustic version a bit more. I'm excited to hear what else you come up with, Andrei!

Sabine B

I love this song, it’s a combo of chill and upbeat - it’s not distracting but it’s catchy enough that you actively want to listen

Pcrafter1

Ohhh these are amazing! Love them, perfect sound for the game

Krissy

this is really lovely!!!!

I know we try to limit comparisons to the Sims franchise, but this track evokes such a nostalgic feeling of sinking countless hours into the Sims 2. There's quite a beautiful balance of cheerful and boundless creative opportunity versus just a touch of earnest sombre energy that the earlier entries in the series nailed so well. This is such a marvelous first piece Andrei and we're so incredibly lucky to have you leading the sound design for Paralives 💖

Bailey Harris

😍😍 this is amazing! I love both versions, they give very different vibes.

Maddie

This demo is exactly the kind of vibe that I hoped and envisioned for Paralives! It's so soothing, lively, vibrant, engaging - it hits all the right notes <3

J.

I agree with Anna, it has a very PAM vibe to it. I prefer the accoustic version. It feels more cozy and welcoming.

Domon0310

You’re welcome Andrei! Just by hearing the first demo for the soundtrack, you definitely are the better choice for sure! Haha I spoke with Alex about maybe creating music for him but I’ll be honest. I’m not really as good yet haha. I’ve been making music for awhile now but I find myself struggling on my own. I’ve always used easier tools through out the years. Like Soundtrap that now is owned by Spotify. So I moved on to Logic Pro because I feel that I’ll have a better experience using that program than soundtrap and I only used that website because I thought I could find a serious artist I could collaborate with but it never happened haha. But yes I love creating music I play the piano just a tiny tiny bit. I’m not the best with the instrument yet but I would say I’m still stuck in the entry level. making music isn’t easy especially all on your own 😅 but it is something I’d like to do for the rest of my life for sure! I just don’t know where to start. I’m just on YouTube and stuff learning Logic Pro for now but I’d love to someday create a song with some one to put in a game that’s one of my biggest dreams. And everyone that hears my music they instantly say this belongs in a game and I’m a big gamer myself so that is a big compliment coming from anyone.

Xavier Zayas

Love the music! Great job team!

Mario Miravalles

<3 It's great! I really like the acoustic version, could see myself building while booping along to it

Dandy 'Tosh' Beltane

It sounds wonderful, genuinely. It evokes such a creative and fun vibe.

Ann-Marie Bowdler

I can see myself powering the game on just to listen to the soundtrack when I just want to relax haha. Great job, Andrei!

Melanie Molyneaux

I love it! really wonderful :)

Wedona

Wonderful job Andrei! I got goosebumps while listening to it. I can imagine the first one in the build mode or in the paramaker. I think the second one feels like a loading screen or the neighborhood music. :)

Szabolcs P.

I love this so much!! Once the base game is released and you guys are able to start adding in more worlds or places to the game, I think it would be really interesting to add music that goes with those worlds. One thing that I love to listen to the most is traditional asian music. It's just very peaceful and relaxing. So everytime you go to a new world or location, it would start playing music that fits that world. And like someone else said, it'd be fun to have music that's somewhat a little more dramatic for something like exploring an unknown cave, but nothing too crazy. Keep up the amazing work!! You guys always make my Fridays even better!

Monica Johnson

I mean, as a Banjo Kazooie fan, you had me at Banjo <3 I do love the accoustic version though!

Bethy Grace

Okay, but this slaps! Hope you keep it or some version of it in the final game!

peblezQ

i like it a lot! do you know if the songs are gonna be copyright or not yet?

Ella Pilchik

Dear Andrei, congratulations on your first Patreon update :) This was fascinating. I don't know much about music except from a listening standpoint, but your explanations made a lot of sense even to me. I have to say, Home really stood out in the June video (and God knows there was A LOT to notice !), I don't think I had noticed that this was its title but it really felt like home. Personally I love the acoustic version here, because of the strings ; I wish we had more cello in video games music, and not just the orchestral type ! The banjo has been quite overused in a lot of games lately, but because you didn't make the whole song revolve on it, it's very nice in Intertwined. There was also something slightly "metallic" about the banjo in the first version you uploaded for us, that made the banjo sound less generic for some reason. Listening to both versions, it reminded me a bit of my favorite videogame soundtrack, for DONTNOD's Remember Me ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYXfIgywXknHjMdirPIkDaEOM4cCyceDE ), where most songs are an intricate patchwork of two styles (electronic & orchestral), and it felt like you were finding a similar balance between acoustic, electronic and orchestral ; I really love that. I'm also looking forward to more updates from you about sound effects. It's really something I find fascinating and very few video games behind-the-scenes go into, not just how the sounds are MADE, but how they're designed, why an object sounds like this instead of sounding like that, why an animal makes this particular sound, why clicking on the UI produces a particular sound instead of another... I don't explain well, but I hope you get what I mean XD Thanks for your hard work !

ladyteruki

I have no regrets supporting you!!! I love every update you are giving us and you are doing great work!!

Daniel Asraf

i would love (!!!!) music inspired form the video game life is strange. it’s another indie game that has indie type music that i think would suit the paralives aesthetic very well

ash czasz

Me too :)

Andrei Castanon

Yeah I agree! I'm listening to their OST and I'm hearing the SIMilarities

Andrei Castanon

Thanks so much Rebekah that means so much to me :)

Andrei Castanon

Thanks Victoria :)

Andrei Castanon

Yeah I think so too Krzysztof!

Andrei Castanon

Thanks Mariana!

Andrei Castanon

Thanks Sofie :D

Andrei Castanon

Awesome! I'll keep that in mind

Andrei Castanon

Yay! Thanks!

Andrei Castanon

I really like both :) The first version felt music video like. For some reason visions of a para riding through a grassy plain on a sunny day followed by a montage of a "day in the life of a para" came to mind. The acoustic version would be perfect for build mode

eM

Thanks remy :)

Andrei Castanon

Wow! I'm really happy you think so :D Thanks so much for that. Yeah I think we are slowly getting to what the sound of the final game will be! Still, we have a long way to go

Andrei Castanon

Totally! Thats something we are thinking about doing :) It would be really cool to put these versions for the different times of day

Andrei Castanon

Thanks a lot Jaya :) Yeah Bare Bones actually does sound pretty similar!

Andrei Castanon

Really nice Andrei. I like it 🥰 Personally.. I think the music would fit well into a build/buy mode.. like Sims did with their build/buy mode music.. for me, I feel a calming tune would accompany building or buying, it’s that relaxing tune that brings forth creativity. I don’t think you need, for example.. a Rocky type tune, as it may make u angry.. and you don’t want to be slamming furniture or walls down Willy-nilly like.. lol 😂

Jezebeth

Thank you so much :) I'm really happy you liked it. Its true, it would go well with the Build mode haha

Andrei Castanon

I love both!!! Don't give up on either of these....

Daniel Asraf

Thanks so much Sara! :D I agree with you! I think the first would fit the gameplay but I still havent made up my mind on the acoustic one

Andrei Castanon

It means a lot what you just said Xavier. Thanks so much and I'll do my best to give you guys what this game deserves. It's awesome to see other people into audio like yourself. Are you doing any music on Logic?

Andrei Castanon

I love both versions so much!! Please don’t get rid of the first version!!! I know a lot of people love the acoustic, which I do also, so instead of choosing one or the other, please use both! 😆❤️❤️

owl lam

Omg that's exactly the kind of scenario I was thinking about when I did it! I'm getting too emotional now

Andrei Castanon

Thanks so much Christophe that means a lot! I wanna listen to the soundtrack of LBA2 to get some inspiration :)

Andrei Castanon

Thanks so much! I'm definitely gonna go check him out this weekend

Andrei Castanon

Awesome! I thought the same too :)

Andrei Castanon

What lovely music! I prefer the acoustic version. =) So pretty!

Candy Buckley-Russell

I love it :) I also would like some melancholic tracks too in the game to deepen its atmosphere. I don't mean the game should be depressive or something :D but sometimes my creativity needs the sadder tunes. Like in Pharao when you built your city and the months went by the mood of the soundtracks always changed from inspiring to chill out and to thougthful vibes. But Sims 1 build music is a good example too

teszter.bp

Love this!! I was getting like sims 2 mixed with stardew valley vibes from the first version. Loved them both!

Katie Bellissimo

It gives off the perfect vibes for this kind of game! Amazing song! <3

Katharina Wiebold

Perfeito! Adorei a música.

Dina Leote

It sounds so good! It blends into the background (in a good way) and yet it's still pretty catchy; seems like it wouldn't be out of place during playing. Perfect for a video game! Congrats!

Mauro Fantin

I loveeee both versions 💜

Thamara

Definitely prefer the acoustic version, it makes my soul happy! Good job Andrei !!

Kyll

The acoustic version is JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT! Still cheerful but soft enough to listen to on repeat!

Alexis Todosciuk

I think that if the versions could alternate it would be sooooo good because they sound amazing. I could definitely see myself creating for hours on end to this tune

Mariette Pena

I love the acoustic version better. The first one seemed …hard… (don’t know how to explain it,sorry) like a little painful on my ears ….

Nicole Nolan

As I listened to the song, I knew where it would fit before you even mentioned it. The music sounds really nice and I think it would fit perfect for the paramaker

kesionna

This would be perfect for build / buy or PAM. People must listen to the whole thing...if it's just the title screen I would be skipping over it too much!

Michael

Absolutely LOOOOVVVEE the first one! Felt like i was in front of my computer about to play the game

Malaiyah

omg i love the music!! in my opinion, it fits so perfectly with Paralives aesthetic and it’s so cheery and hopeful yet nostalgic in a weird way.. Love it!! 💗💗 Great job Andrei!✨

Aww

As a longtime Sims player and hearing the same tune nonstop, I personally would love to see these two alternate between each other cause both of them sound amazing! :)

Jeremy Dell

While listening I was also thinking Intertwined would sounds good as main menu music 🎶 it sounds so good! Great work Andrei 👏🏽👏🏽

Codi

I disagree with you Justin, for me the best build/buy music was in Sims 1

Marcin

The acoustic version is simply delicious. Comparing these two songs with the song from the Chalét-video – you can hear there is a familiarity, or a signature-sound, if you will (and I love that), and at the same time the songs feel unique and different. Great work!

Cosmic Dancer

Both are very good and I'd like to hear both in game!!

jaaama

I really love the acoustic version.

Shian Chambers

soooo cool and peaceful

Víctor Fernández García

Thanks I love it 😍

Chanel Moss

I'm digging both, both are so good

Deborah Aittokallio

I'm always a sucker for different iterations of songs playing at different times of day. Makes the game seem more alive

Natasha Welsh

How calming! Calming music for simulation games is definitely the best way to go

Sophie Goodman-Merel

Yes I was thinking the same thing! 😄 Feels nostalgic! 🤩

BekkiRoss

I simply love the idea of having different iterations of the same song that the game plays in different contexts. Maybe when you enter the Paramaker/build mode at night (in-game) the music sounds more relaxed and intimate?

Sean McDorman

Love both, especially the acoustic! ❤️

LadyJ

I love both of them!! They are so peaceful with optimistic vibe that you cant help but smile to and sway to 😊 *peacefully twerking*

Diamond Nicole

This is really good music! The first bit does remind me of Sims 2 music (Bare Bones comes to mind) but these are much more modern and nuanced. Very good creative music! Keep it up :)

Jaya Bhandari

I love it so much! I do hope this track makes it into the game. It's so relaxing and chill, I could totally see myself attempting to build while this track plays in the background. Very excited for the direction the music seems to be taking!

KittlynM

Both songs are really beautiful, I love them so much!! The first one I think would fit well on either para maker or build mode. Idk why but I see myself vibing to the acoustic version while waiting for the game to load

Sara Rocha

I LOVE THE ACOUSTIC VERSION ITS AMAZING!!!!!!

Keleah Brown

Loveeeee both versions! So well done!

Robyn

Maybe I'm searching, but I'm getting hints of The Sims 2 build/buy mode music. By far the most evocative of the series. Can't wait to her more!!

David Guth

I LOVE BOTH SO MUCHH ❤️

Emily

If this is what the games music will sound like I’m very very impressed! I just love it so much! please add this in the game. I always felt like the music in any game should be just as important as the game you’re playing and you literally nailed it with this one demo. god congratulations Alex! You really found some one amazing to make the paralives music for you im so happy for you and all who are working on the game. I know that we couldn’t work together but I will continue to support you and everyone else working on the game. I just bought Logic Pro myself and I’m really liking it! Best of luck to you all Paralives Team!

Xavier Zayas

Ah the banjo sounds heavily remind me of Sims 2 😊 So cute!!

Fae

Wow. I AM putting this in my car!

Jang

I got snippets of a Paralives trailer in my mind's eye when listening to this - Sebastian at home, a pan cross the lighthouse, Maggie peeking out from behind the lens of her telescope, a pan cross town, and an old man (former fisherman, face carved by salt and sea) by a harbor, petting a cat.

Vera Ohlsen

So. Damn. Good.

Cady Moriarty

It sounds amazing!!!

Artistforeternity

The music is SO GOOD!!!

Evelyn Patrick

I'm dancing around to the music!

ghoulsrule

Oh my gosh this is amazing

Star Zoë

I love the music! It sounds so fun and upbeat! Very exciting news! Keep up the amazing work!! 💕

Victoria Garcia

This is great! Perfect for build mode or Parafolk creator ❤️

Krzysztof Pluta

I was just thinking the same thing!

Shelly Rice

I LOVE the acoustic version so much

mar

woww didn’t expect to like it this much!!

syphaia

This sounds amazing! I absolutely adore how fresh and calming this is, I can already tell the soundtrack is gonna stick with me for a long time. <3

Rebekah Vandenhole

Please go the direction of acoustic version! It makes the game feel more alive and emotional!

Tauras Giedraitis

Wow it sounds so happy and really makes me want to create something, great work!

Cylight

This sounds so good, I wouldn’t mind having this playing in the background while I game, not in the slightest!

mar

Sims 2 had the best build/buy music 👏

Justin Barnett

Damn Andrei, this sounds like a mix between Little Big Adventure 2 and the previous Sims games and I am here for it! LBA2 remains to this day my absolute favorite video game and I'm getting massive Twinsen vibes. Love this! Incredible work <3

Christophe Zajac

I love the song!

Isabella Trama

I love it! I could see myself jamming to this while playing the game

Mary Breyer

I like it has a chill EDM vibe.

Justin Barnett

Instant favorite. The composition got mad Mark Mothersbaugh vibes and I am so ready to hear more!!

Team True Destiny

It definitely feels like a good menu music to me the longer it goes on, but honestly I think it would fit anywhere!

1luckydandelion

it sounds good! i’m excited!

Jaxon Mia Escontrias

I love the acoustic version so much >0

rila

I love this!! You’re so talented! I can’t wait

1luckydandelion

This sounds just like Sims 2 music. And that is 100000% a compliment :)

Francesco Vassallo

So exciting!!!
