XG Documentary Series ‘XTRA XTRA’ EP X4

Comments

Not my delulu ass crushing on Simon so hard this episode. Ugh he’s so good to the girls. We love a disciplined and driven but also emotionally intelligent man. New patron! Thanks for making these. I love watching these along with you.

Been watching it all, so thanks for the XG content.

Just finished watching the react! Ty for supporting the girls! Great watch! Heads up that XTRA XTRA's rumored final episode is next week at episode X7.

HI Caitlin! I run a XG focused channel OGA (not trying to promote just giving context on how much I follow XG) but there is no actual "issue" here. The CEO of AVEX, which is a Japanese entertainment conglomerate in which XGALX is a subsidiary under, said comments that were not favorable to Koreans yes. This happened around the time of Mascara era unfortunately which threw a major wrench into Simon's plan for the girls at the time. Suddenly instead of being celebrated they were under fire in Korea over the comments of their parent company's CEO. Was that under their control? No. But it set them back so far in the K-pop scene. Now the comments of said CEO were indefensible. But, there is some of it that's kind of being twisted in a negative light. Some of what was said, kind of gets lost in translation and comes off as more hostile than what was really said. Is the CEO pro Japanese? Yes. Is what he said harmful to Korea? Yes. Was it as bad as people made it out to be? No, because of the context. So fast forward, since that time, XG and XGALX have kind of been playing catch up to try and move past that. They've done nothing but shown respect to Korean culture, learn their language, take part in their practices, learn to cook their food. If you ever get to watching 3 Meals A Day, you'll see what I mean. (It's a great show btw), not just me being biased but they are literally hilarious to watch. Now what do we know about toxicity in K-pop culture? Once a "scandal" happens fans don't let it go. So to this day, XG continues to have to fight to right their name. But K-fans with this dated knowledge keep trying to push them away and force reactors to stop reacting to them. They continue to try and gate-keep "K-pop" and push XG out of the conversation. So thats why if you see ALPHAZ in comments they tend to be much more combative than usual (they shouldn't be and I try and preach this). Because the girls deserve the respect they've worked for. And whatever some old dude in some parent company that has no direct involvement with the group has to say should have no bearing on their body of work. Lastly, I want to say that your reaction to XG back in the XYPHER and Shooting Star era were major reasons why I've decided to fall in love with this group. I enjoy your content and your genuinity (just making up words now) and hope you continue to support XG when you can despite what these commenters have to say. We cannot let negativity win here. XG deserves their place at the table. They've worked too hard for this.

I also don't know everything about the "issue" (if you can even call it an issue...), but it was kinda like you said something about the old ceo of the parent company (if I'm wrong pls correct me) saying some negative stuff about Korea. This ofcourse is very upsetting. However, (and this is why I've recently been so done with the soul-sucking negativity on twt etc.) this has literally nothing to do with Simon or the girls lol. They just found a clip or interview and ran with it. :( This is so sad bc while Simon can be harsh at times and goal driven, he cares about the girls and cares about their art and well-being. The girls don't deserve this at all! On a lighter note, I just cooked dinner and will cozy up and start watching now lol

I didn’t even know about this “issue” until you said it right now. I’m as much confused as you are, can please someone explain?
