Spot on as always. As an Iñupiaq , I hope the show doesn’t pull too hard on the spiritual angle. There’s ample ground for storytelling in rural villages of a True Detective type. The oil protest scenes kind of get there but I do have to say I was hoping for some secular vs christian vs traditional Inupiaq thought in this story. Plus the flashbacks’ weight really don’t hold a candle to season 1, nor village drama in its annals. How they’re not running into cousins and church people asking a million questions about their family is beyond me lol. We’re in for a ride this season, I guess.
